    Green looks indoors for Roy Jones

    Potential weather worries are likely to result in an indoor arena for the blockbuster bout between Australia's Danny Green and American superstar Roy Jones Jnr in Sydney in November.
    Green returned to Sydney on Wednesday, carrying with him the IBO cruiserweight title belt he won against Mexican Julio Cesar Dominguez in Mississippi last weekend.
    He's scheduled to make his first defence against the legendary 40-year-old Jones, who scored an equally impressive tenth round stoppage of former super middleweight world champion Jeff Lacy in the light heavyweight bout on the same card in Biloxi.
    Green touched down just a few hours after it was announced his 2000 Olympic teammate Michael Katsidis will fight American Vicente Escobedo on the undercard of the big Floyd Mayweather-Juan Manuel Marquez clash in Las Vegas on September 19.
    Katsidis will have the chance to regain the WBO interim lightweight title he lost last year.
    The promotion at the MGM Grand is arguably the biggest in the world this year, while the Green-Jones promotion looms as the highlight of the Australian boxing calendar.
    Green and his management confirmed the bout was heading to Sydney.
    An avid Parramatta Eels rugby league supporter, Green suggested his clash with Jones might take place at Parramatta Stadium, which hosted one of Kostya Tszyu's world title fights.
    Green fought outdoors against Anthony Mundine at the Sydney Football Stadium in 2006, which attracted around 30,000 spectators, but Green Machine Boxing (GMB) director ****** Manolikos suggested the Jones bout would go ahead indoors.
    ``Boxing is not a thing you can have the next day, so I would just rather take that risk out and know that it's indoors and maybe have a slightly smaller crowd than what we could've got (outdoors),'' Manolikos told AAP on Wednesday.
    ``It's just peace of mind for everyone, not only me as promoter, but also the fighters.''
    The date for the promotion will depend on television requirements and venue availability .
    Manolikos said GMB were looking at Sydney's two biggest indoor venues, the 11,500 seat Sydney Entertainment Centre and 21,000 seat ACER Arena.
    Green admitted to being mesmerised while watching Jones outclass Lacy.
    ``He was talking to me during the fight and he was looking at me and he asked me at one stage `Did you like that, did you like that?''' Green said.
    ``But he hasn't been hit by me yet and I am definitely not overawed.''
    Impressive in his second fight after coming out of retirement, 36-year-old Green attributed his success to a quartet of R's - relaxation, recovery, recuperation and remedies.
    Manolikos said a number of American fighters on the Biloxi undercard, including lightweight Jason Litzau and cruiserweight BJ Flores, had already expressed an interest in appearing on the Green-Jones undercard.
    ``What I was just thinking is do we try and make it an Australia versus America thing,'' Manolikos said.
    He was adamant Green's bout with Jones would easily attract greater worldwide interest than his much-hyped bout with Mundine.
    ``Green-Mundine was massive on an Australian stage, but on a world stage - with respect to the boys - it went a little bit unnoticed, no one really cared,'' Manolikos said.
    ``This is easily going to surpass that.''

    Manolikos said the only potential obstacle to a Green-Jones bout might come if the American superstar was offered a fight against one of the two Klitschko brothers, Wladimir or Vitali, who hold three of the heavyweight world titles between them.

    The last paragraph where ****** mentions the Klitschkos has got me worried that Green v RJJ might not come off and left jab Dannys streak of prematurely announcing things only for them to not happen continues.

    I know, I know but it sounds like to me that nothing has been signed in regards to Green / RJJ and Roy might take another fight instead of coming here to fight Green.It sounds like its only a verbal agreement between Roy and Danny and it maybe not happening like the tarver fight.

    It is only a verbal agreement at the moment, but RJJ is very keen apparently to head down here for the fight. I'd be very suprised if it didn't happen

    I have no expectations when it comes to boxing anymore...It may or may not happen. Roy also talked of fighting Woods again and if he were to beat Cloud for the IBF 175 strap, there is a chance of him taking that path.

    But Roy fight the Klits..good lord thats 24 carat comedy.

    I'd say Roy will ome to Oz & fight Green, defeat him & win the IBO cruiser title. On paper he's then won titles at Middle, S/Middle, L/Heavy, Heavy & then Cruiser. Both Klit bros will knock Roy into tomorrow, it makes no sense.

    You make out as if i;m the only person who claims this fight is going ahead.
    I said a couple of months ago this fight was a big possibility of happening before there was any press about it.
    Now that it looks like happening your saying it could still fall threw....well no **** sherlock exactly what control do i have over that you stupid ****!
    So i guess if RJJ gets hit by a car tommorrow and can't fight Danny then that means i must be full of **** about the fight ever going ahead lol...get the **** outta here.
    Oh lets not forget the Tarver fight that i was full of **** too.
    How dare i claim Danny was going to fight Tarver i mean it was only scheduled in boxrec and then there was Danny announcing the fight at half time of a west coast eagles game and then there's main event who filmed and aired there ads for the Green v Tarver fight:deal
    You obviously know **** all about the game cause if you did you'd know there is a 1000 reasons a fight can fall through after it has been agreed apon.

    Gee the thought of Danny fighting one of the greatest boxers of all time must really **** you off:yep
    It's great to see Danny stick it up ***s like yourself...don't worry i hear choc will be fighting at a RSL near you soon.

    In the interview/main page with BJ Flores he talks about his next fight being scheduled on the Green RJJ undercard here in NOV...

    now now now dont get all pissy sweetheart.just posting the article is all i did.and no if danny does get an ATG like rjj over here it will be good for aussie boxing but for whatever reason whenever you post about dannys future plans it always seems to fall through.:deal:thumbsup

    look im really dissapointed in all this.
    With danny fighting indoors theres always the chance of dehydration again.
    And really if you take all the hype out,all the lovers balls **** that greens supporters have for him,and all the media beat up,i cant really see a big enough reason for rjj to fly however many hours all the way here,adjust and train to our time difference and climate to fight danny green.
    i mean greens new belt doesnt hold any real pulling power and jones can clean up in many more ways in the usa than coming all this way to fight a carpenter from perth who got slapped silly by mundine,lost to beyer twice and hit the deck when gonzales cracked him with a shithouse right hand.
    And beating that van de kirk guy was no better than mundine vs one of his cab drivers.
    Its all hype and we are being sucked in to the green media circus.
    If i was rjj id tell danny,when you beat mundine or at least win a few rounds against a guy of his calibre ,come and see me and then we will talk.

    With Danny having an exciting win on a Roy Jones card in front of american audiences (even if not against the most stellar oppostion) it hypes up a fight that american fight fans will love. This will be hyped to the max , sell massive PPV's in Aus and US.
    The reason Roy and Green want this fight to happen is simple $$

    Roy doesn't give a **** about his legacy compared to cash and neither does Green, and who can blame them? Plenty of fighter's have left great legacys and due to a lack of financial savvy (which both of these guys have bucketloads of) have been used,abused and left destitute.

    Take this fight for what it is Luds, and that is an exciting scrap between two blokes who know how to turn it on.

    Anyone { Manolikos ? ] who seriously suggests Jones would fight either of the Klitschko's
    is stark staring mad.
    Julio Cesar Dominguez is a Argentinian cruiserweight [ world ranking 85 ] not a Mexican.
