I dont think Green being on the undercard did anything to boost the hype for a RJJ/Green fight. Sure there will be American interest, but it will be the same as the Lacy fight, etc. It wouldn't be a case of...'Oh, look at this Green guy on the undercard. This will be a great match up'. It will be more of people just wanting to see Roy, and hoping he can turn back the clock. It'll be different to the Australian public though.
In all honesty the thing i dont understand is all true boxing fans know that green hasnt improved really much in the last 5 years. I know he has always had a good right hand but technically he is pretty average. So after loosing nearly all 12 rounds to mundine, how could green really think he could beat rjj, other than buy a lucky k.o. I dont believe mundine is any better or worse a fighter than rjj so i cant see green really getting a different result here and i know green thinks his power will win him the fight, but really power is worthless if you cant actually hit the guy properly and rjj is hard to hit. I think the dollars signs might be clouding greens judement on this one.
luds, to be honest I think deep inside Green knows he cant beat RJJ, he just needs to pretend to be confident publicly - thats his job. But Green saying he was mesmerised by Jones' performance was kinda a dead givaway...
I would think that 99% of all boxers have the mentality that they can beat there opponent. would be very surprised if a fighter got in the ring and thought no way am I winning this fight they would all think at least they would have a lucky punch chance at the least. Green will be telling himself he had weight issues the death of his niece and other problems ( being in hoispital with unknown ilness) bad back from sparring OS when he got beat by mundine and that at Cruiser fully fit with no distractions he will win. whats right and wrong is up for debate however surly he would be thinking this before the fight
thats sweet mate and for some reason dannys managers first name is blocked out here so we will call him JM makes it sound like the undercard will be a corker too. i just posted this article i read on sports nut to discuss and to provoke a reaction from leftjab danny which i got :yep.move on people nothong more to see here.
Oh yeah I'm not saying its going to set any world records pecks, but having green as a semi main event to set up the match would do a lot more for the public profile of the fight then if the two just decided to set up a bout straight off the bat
Though I'm not suggesting Danny's comeback was only for the money, it would have been a very big factor. He'll be 37 in 6 months so the money 'clouding his judgement' might be more a case of 'increasing his focus'. Logically, Danny will only have another 4 more fights maximum IMO, and I'd be surprised if Mundine II isn't his last harrah, win or lose.
Green has just as much one punch power as Johnson and Tarver. And we know what they did to Roy. Lacy didn't have a jab. Danny does. Danny will take a beating early but he should come home stronger. Hes in with a real chance here. He gets stronger above SMW.
greetings from good old engerland :hi: don't worry my aussie friends i'm sure this will end up down under bit of compensation for getting tonked in the cricket :yep
Slipper me old mucker - good to see you back here. Hopefully you won't be dissolving into tears in 3 days time when you've lost by an innings again 2 tests in a row
