Is Ricky going to go straight in with Martinez or have 6/8 rounds in between?

Fair play to Burns for getting a payday but he's getting destroyed in this one. Martinez looked proper class last time out - kid's getting slept on a bit.

This can be for another thread closer to the time. I don't think Burns is gonna get "smashed". He's too clever for that. He needs to box to a really strict gameplan with no lapses. IF he can do that for 12 he can win on points. But the trenches will beckon at some point...

Massive step up for Burns who's been way too inactive. Martinez is a very good fighter, who attacks with intelligence, and has decent power. I'd be very surprised if Ricky sees the full 12, I don't like the way he's been thrown in with a fighter of Roman's class without better preparation.

What's he going to tell me? That he has fought some world level gatekeepers that I don't know about?

No tetchy. I'm just leaving it to Billy. As I said it's for another debate nearer the time!!

Not being tetchy, just stating the obvious. He hasn't been prepared properly, and that is in no way a slight on Billy Nelson. It's a slight on his promoter, who hasn't allowed him to build to this fight in a better manner.

Yeah well when the various Burns v Martinez threads begin in earnest you can say all you want. I just said that I don't think he'll get smashed and I really can't be arsed getting into debates that at the moment are not relevant. Hence why Billy can come on and defend Ricky's record.

    So you've made your point.
