No, I am far from a yank, I just don't like pointless troll threads, which you seem to derive some weird pleasure from.

Average Alex Arthur was a 'World Champion' but never won a World Title Fight in the ring.

Sadly that is more an indication of the state of the sport in the US.

Yes, we should be proud of what some of our fighters have achieved. But now I would like to see some of these fighters take it to the 'next level' and show themselves generally THE best, not 'just' one of the best.

We've got more belt holders than any other nation.

In modern day boxing I'm not sure how you would define who is and isn't a world champion. The WORLD champion should mean that you're the best in a weight division.

Are Terry Flanagan, Lee Selby, Lee Haskins and Jamie McDonnell World Champions or belt holders ??

I think it's more of an indication of stricter PED testing that is seeing them becoming also rans. Their best boxers of modern years such as Mayweather, Roy Jones, Toney, Hopkins, Ward, Holyfield etc are clear PED cheats, where they want to win at all costs and lose interest when they can't. If other nations was allowed to compete in the world series of baseball and it had strict PED testing results would be the same

And would you class Wilder, Broner, Charlo, Russell Jr, Jacobs, Thurman as world champions or belt holders?

World champion means a-side in negotiations. ...nothing more

No. If Cotto decided he wanted to fight Liam Smith, who would be A-side in negotiations there?

They're all belt holders. I wasn't singling out the UK merely trying to point out that winning a title/belt/so called championship means very little nowadays and does not IMO make you a world champion.

Never mind the Irish debate - what's happened to the Jocks. Do they still box up there ?
