Andries got better with age, the 35 year old version wasn't far off the best version.

 

He looks a bit crude...

Are there any other standout names I've not comprehended? I'm fairly settled with that order now unless somebody has escaped me.

 

He was crude but the version you saw was AFTER he went to Kronk and improved his technique....I kid you not!!

im not picking on you guys just want to see your reasoning

 

Because old day fighters are overhyped and though they have more competition they also had far less skilled opposition. Anything pre 1940's will rarely get any kudos from me. I begrudge placing Fitzsimmons when i've never seen him box ket alone know much about the state of his opposition though his record is outstanding.

Mills lost silly fights, had no great form at title level likewise with McAvoy. I just don't buy they were better fighters. My list is a who would beat who list taking into account there achievements. These are mostly fighters that I have seen with my own eyes and have records that I can make a judgement on. TFFP knowlege is impressive I presume- but I don't know that for a fact.

Well its not a great division. He does deserve some love and the wins over Jones and Hopkins are still fairly impressive in comparison to some on the list.

Thank **** someone else thinks this. As much as you can get great information in the Classic forum, the bias towards old fighters there is hilarious. There was a thread the other week talking about how great some old fighters resume was (can't remember who) and there was about 15 names or so that were counted as great wins because the opponenet was ranked in the Ring's divisional top 10 at the time of fighting. All fair and well maybe, but if you were talking in the Classic Forum about, say Hopkins' resume and mentioned Howard Eastman (i'd imagine he'd have been a top 5 middle at the time of the Hopkins fight), you'd get laughed out the place!
