But if you go onto the classic forum, there will be a bias towards another era...

The sport is completely different now a days to what it once was...

Could you see Floyd Mayweather Jr fighting and winning 27 fights in a year and winning titles from 147 to 175?

If it was the 1930's that is what he would need to do to be up there.

Fighters were used to fighting regularly and losing every now and again. In this era a defeat can put a fighter back four years, not four months like it once did.

Like I said, it was a different sport, with a different mentality and it was more popular and mainstream.

Speaking of modern day boxers, would George Gardner (Gardiner) sneek in? :D:p

He was the second man in history to hold the World Light-Heavyweight Title, defeating the first Light-HW Champ, Jack Root by KO.

He won a world title. Which I know isn't saying a great deal in this era but there has to be something to distinguish between the two and that is one thing. I also like his victory over Glen Johnson though slightly fortunate.

Finnegan seemed to lose every fight against world class opposition.

Chic Calderwood has one of the strongest single wins out of lot, he beat Willie Pastrano, future light heavyweight champion and Ali training partner. Great and underrated win. That alone alonjg with a closer look at his career means he should be placed lower end of the top ten.:yep

Thats why he is on my list, great win. Typically tragic life, locked up for assault and then killed in a car crash aged 29
