It a boxing world were home fighter gets given almost every round when he loses the round, but does not get dominated, the UK judges last night were a breath of fresh air given the rounds to the correct fighter consistently.

I read through the fight thread last night, and noticed many people surprised how fairly the scorecards were scored by the judges. This should really be consistent through every fight no matter were the fight is heals in the world, instead of just being the exception.

I notice the scorecards are particularly bad in the USA for example when Wilder fought Spilka, Washington, Ortiz and Fury. I hope the USA follows the UK’s example and hires judges based on fairness, and not ones that only care about were their next pay check is coming from.

I think the problem we have in the UK is the refereeing. We have a number of utterly incompetent referees operating at the top level.

It was a Hughie Fury fight. He is not a big product, just another pawn in the promotional game. Let's not pretend it's the same as protecting one of their key investments. Nobody believes Povetkin would have gotten those cards against Joshua/Whyte etc. ... because he wouldn't have.

In this case, I'd say Povetkin was still useful if he won because of his broad drawing power compared to Hughie, so it didn't really matter if Hughie lost, another big Pov fight can be made in the UK potentially, with Hearn capitalising.

I agree with the OP, but i agree with the guy that complain about the referee. Fury was doing too much of holding and should have recieve atleast an official warning.
He wasnt doing anything at all, but when Povetkin get close, Fury tied him and was holding too much.
There is a difference between clinch and holding. Also there is a difference between punching your opponent with hard punches and then clinch.
Fury was doing holding just to get escape of the close range.

As far as Loma - Campbell, the idio*** referee should have deducted Campbell a point for the takedown in the last round. He made that move, because he was badly hurt and it clear he took Lomachenko legs for the takedown. This is not a Boxing, has nothing to do with Boxing and was move to win time and survive. This should be 1000000% punishable by the ref.

I'm sure Bob Arum negotiated what judges should be on the panel for the Lomachenko vs. Campbell fight, but wide scorecards for Povetkin vs. Fury were a little bit surprising. I was expecting a robbery or a draw, at least.

There was only 1 (out of 6 judges) was British in the 2 main events last night. Rest were international. Besides, this was an internationally televised event and the home fighters were underdogs. That's not the best scenario for a scorecard robbery. When the event is local and the home fighter is the favorite, British judges are no different than judges elsewhere. They heavily favor the home fighter.

Three judges from Monaco, Mexico, and Canada made the ruling. Why should Britain get anything?

Perhaps for delivering an environment in which judges do their job properly. We see a lot of international judges put in very curious scorecards when they touch down in the US.

    This isn't about them.

Please don't turn this thread into the 700th GGG Canelo thread.
