In another thread it was said that Bakole was touch and go on judges cards after clearly being beaten to a pulp... One judge had Ritson 4 rounds up !! wtf Is UK judging now the worst in the World?...people complain about other countries but the cards in UK are shocking time after time
I would genuinely like to see the scores displayed live at the end of each round. I think it would add to the atmosphere inside the arena also let the boxer knows where he stands with his tactics. With regards to Bakole, I think somebody probably heard a whisper in that Hunter corner and that's why he went all out in the 12th to get the job done and also probably why Nelson was not letting him quit that fight. Astonishingly @uppercut_to_the_body and his goons in the general RBR had Ritson winning. In terms of scoring punches I had Patera up overall still the disparity of 116-112 and 112-116 is quite a big difference and I wonder if some of these are just simple admin errors under the pressure of the moment. I cant remember the fight but there was one recently were one of the judges obviously got the fighters names mixed up - these things do happen. Seems ridiculous that in 2018 we are still using paper, pencils and ten fingers to add up scores at the end of a fight.
It’s awful. You even have creepy Adam Smith saying “but we are in Newcastle” as if that means anything, swaying and influencing the casuals into thinking that this means Patera has to do more to get a win. And people are expecting Deontay Wilder to come over the the UK gladly to box Joshua when the scoring for Joshua-Klitschko and Joshua-Parker was very unfair.
a punch in the face is the same no matter what City you are in....It is clearly corrupt or at best incompetent personally i think there should be 4 judges and the wildest one thrown out
Some of our scorecards over here are getting embarrassing, I completely agree. Sometimes we overlook the scorecards when the right person won but that just papers over the problem imo. Sometimes in a very close fight, I can understand a wide scorecard...ie Catterall-Davies 118-110. Even though it’s v close, if one fighter keeps just nicking the round then you can get them scorecards. I just wish there wasn’t this idea that you have to do that bit more cos you’re the away fighter. A goal in footy is the same value home or away, it can’t be disputed but an away fighter does seem to have to do significantly more to win a round....that’s what you get with subjective scoring...unconscious biases.
A recent set of scorecards that really plssed me off was for Taylor vs. Postol. Cant remember the exact scores but they were all ridiculous like Taylor winning at least 10 rounds. The right man won, so there's a lesser feeling of injustice. But that was a razor close fight all the way and in the last few rounds Taylor had to dig deep and go to town, score a knockdown which more or less won him the fight in my eyes. Yet according to they scorecards Taylor shouldn't have bothered his arse going for it he could've just coasted the last few rounds as the win was already in the bag. So what was the point. Definitely a good few dodgy scorecards in the UK in recent times.
There will never be a worse card than Fatty O'Connor's Tyson Fury v John McDermott 1st fight card. Can accept the odd times where opinions can differ, the odd incompetence scoring close rounds but his card was simply anything but incompetence. McDermott won the fight by 8 rounds to 2 at least but Fatty Fudge scores it 8-2 in favour of Fury. Apart from corruption, I cannot see a valid reason for his card including gross incompetence, 30 mins of temporary blindness or an overdose on viagra pre fight.
Very true, and people are always talking about corruption in other countries like Russia and Bulgaria when the UK is worse. What were the scorecards for Bakole vs Hunter?
My biggest concern is when you get a fight that Fighter A clearly wins by say 116-111 type scoreline, then Fighter B has one judge scoring it 111-115 to the other fighter. Seriously how can you get what is effectively a 10 round disparity in scorelines like that, it's an absolute joke.
I'd hazard a guess that the judging across most countries is equally as incompetent if you watched enough fights. We saw it for years in germany and Adelaide Byrd's attempt at scoring in the biggest fight in world boxing. That doesn't excuse it though and it's definitely increasing on these shores. Sky don't help the matter either by offering excuses for dodgy scorecards or attempting to completely omit them from history. I refused to listen to the toe to toe podcast again after they failed to mention the disgraceful judging from the Murray-Rosado fight.
Judges, Refs, Promotors, all part of the same British Boxing fraternity To be fair, boxing refs and judges worldwide are way way bias for local fighters they know where their paychecks come from
So Joshua should go to America where wilder was up on the cards against Washington where he didn't win a single round, and Ortiz who he was clearly losing to, and the refs give him an extra 40 seconds recovery time if he's feeling a bit ropey between rounds?
It's swings and roundabouts, USA regularly has terrible cards, Germany obviously well known for it, Australia are truly diabolical. Yeah we favour the home fighter here but so does everywhere else they just tend to let it go whereas we get all outraged over it.
Josh Taylor said the same straight after the fight himself..!!! fair play to him Like you say ,what is the point of a judge if they are so wild scorecards... Maybe its worth putting them in a room with tv footage because the ringside scoring is getting worse by the year
