You say the "Mecca" is the best place to go to see something. And you support this by quoting attendance figures for fights in the UK. Well shouldn't the best place to see boxing, be the place where you can see the best boxers, not the place where you can see the most boxing FANS?

 

And who the **** cares how many people show up to a fight?

Isn't the fight itself whats important?

 

Well, having people rather than empty seats does add something to the occasion...

 

This is true, it definitely adds to the atmoshphere when you have more people at the events. I hope to see the day that fights sell out stadiums in the U.S comparable to football and baseball games that routinely go on here. Until then advantage U.K

 

hatton is a special uk case.

we had woods/witter/rees as world champs fighting in front of normal size boxing crowds.

hatton from near enough the beggining has had tribal support .

there is no putting your finger on what is going to make a uk big box office in the uk.

very few fighters can fight an anymous fighter and get a full house, hatton falls into this catergory and then some.

although we do not see or hear much of it, some japanese fighters get hatton like support as well.
