Alot of bitches from across the pond these days getting excited that American Andre SOB Ward is favourite to beat Carl The Cobra Froch, and are posting some pure nonsense throughout the general forum.

Look at the history, in 19 world title fights between the two regions UK has whooped USA 15 - 4.

    Here is some irrefutable statistics:-

USA has an area 3790000 square miles compared to UK which has 94060 Square miles. Despite being 40 times bigger than UK, they only managed to produce just 4 wins out of 19

USA has a population of 308,745,538 compared to UK which has 61,838,154. Despite USA outnumbering UK 5 to 1, they have been getting battered by a less populated region. :-(

All you yanks here should hang your heads in shame, and have the full history researched before posting some pure bull**** over the forum.

BTW any American that feels offended by this can **** off.

We'll just have to console ourselves with having the vast majority of the top 50 boxers of all time, won't we?

(I'm sure you'll quibble with the list and insist that Clinton Woods belongs in the top 10.)

yeah but most of them were in a time when boxing was basically just americans. A time when it took 3 weeks to get to the usa from europe.

Even with your statistics, I dont think we can use them to make an analysis of a fight between two boxers right now at this time. I never heard any expert says "I'm favoring X fighter over Y fighter because his country man usualy won fights when you look at histories between those countries."

I think it's a hard fight to call and I give each of them good chance to beat the other and since we are talking about two great boxer, they can make adjustement to their "mistakes" and "weaknesses" until they face off. But again, the fact that Euback have beaten Jarvis by KO dont give either Ward or Froch any advantage.

Well, Max Schmeling got on a boat and braved the voyage for the glory of Germany, I don't see why British fighters couldn't have done the same.

Maybe the redoubtable gentleman Jack Winchester (or somesuch person), who fought exclusively in pubs around London, had the talent and wherewithal to beat up a prime Sugar Ray Robinson? But he just never got on the boat. He was prone to sea-sickness, perhaps. A shame, I suppose.

But nevertheless, there it is. The top 50 all time are virtually all Americans!

why should the brit have got on a boat, why not the american, they calim to be 'world champion' not american champions. And we have seen with the fall of the iron curtain the russians and ex soviet nations stomping on the US in the hw division...if they had the opportunity 50 years ago are you telling me the hw champion lineage would be the same as it is today? no ****ing way. now i expect you'll probably say something like 'all our hw's are playing nfl' but thats just more bull**** from a nation that no longer owns boxing in the way they once did. lets not forget the mafia owned the belt in the first half of the last century and refused to allow it to leave the USA as they had no control of it once it left US shores which meant no money (Boxing Confidential (Source)).

I have no idea what to think about hypothetical ex-soviet fighters or how they would have fared in an alternative history.

We only have the history we have. And in that history (otherwise known as "reality") the top 50 of all time is comprised almost entirely of Americans.

yes and that is an american history, not a world history. are you telling me american just fell off the boxing world in the past 20 years...even with the money men and home advantage most the time (look at ward, mayweather etc) the us fighters still fail time and time again even with the cards all stacked in there favour.

How many of those american fighters even held world titles, thats not a great list? Roy Jones Jr, Mike McCallum, Michael Nunn and James Toney were all quality SMWs.

The UK has a good record at SMW, to be sure. Round of applause to Graham for his battling display against Brewer, thought he was going to take that one. In the MW division all time, the US has some great fighters in Hagler, Robinson, Greb, Fullmer, Griffith, Graziano, etc.

Before the 4 belt era the UK produced noticably fewer champs. At MW pre 1980 there were about 5 UK champs. The US has nearly 500 world champs in total, far exceeding second place Mexico with around 120.

In boxing history, the UK has a presence. But, since the 1950's there has been a growing plurocracy in boxing. Many world champs these days are from Japan, the Philippines, South Africa, etc. Due to UK population size, the nation may produce a number of world champs, but its not going to be a majority.
