He was lined up to face Quigley but then Quigley got injured and never gave title up for Magee to contest i think against..Smith or Dodson?? then he was going to fight Quigley and got injured so Smith took his place and that's last i heard.

My thoughts exactly, too many of our domestic fighters that aren't with big promoters (or hold a title) are stuck in a rut fighting the same journeyman over and over again until they can get a fight for a title when they are outgunned and lack the experience to really cause problems for their opponent.

It would be nice to see something that forces the C level fighters together to see who is top dog, it would two things firstly it would expose the fighters that are simply not good enough to fight for domestic titles against the top opposition and two give the guys that do well more experience so that they can improve as fighters and become more competitive when put in against the top domestic opposition.

The thing with it too would be in the end we would end up with whoever the top dog should be, no hiding away from it!

I wanna see Magee against Dodson, Smith and Quigley. I think he should be B class. Froch is A class but Smith, Quigley and Dodson C class.

Magee could've beaten Reid if he was kd 4 times. Most think Tsypko was dodgy decision. Magee could've nearly beaten Froch. Power lost Magee the 2 of his 3 fights.

True but every fighter would be better for competing in it and I have no doubt that the winner would be better more experienced and would at least be more challenging thanks to the experience.
And I think it makes sense because it would be good business, cheap to put together, good money and exposure for those fighting in the tournament and the next fight involving the winner of that tournament and the British title holder would be that bit bigger because of that tournament.
And more importantly it would get more boxing on TV:bbb (even if the standard wasn't that great)

do you mean magee b class, and smith, dodson and quigley c class?
Magee nearly did beat froch, and i think you are right, had he carried a bit more power, could possibly have been looking at giving him a closer fight

can't make my mind up now if i would want to see just a six person tournament or maybe done on a bit of a larger basis now though

It's a good idea mate, I think most of the fighters you mention would be able (contract wise) to take part, Smith is the problem because of Warren. I think it would work best as 10 rounders perhaps 8 wks apart with them all fighting on the same night, if you lose your out cause it would give them more to fight for, kind of like a higher class prize fighter. Someone like Hearn would maybe really do this.

the more i think about it, the more it could be done if a promotor really got behind it, and ran with it. Hearn is your obvious choice, but i would like to see maybe a link up between two promotors, give it a bit more financial beef.
what channel do we think would take this up.
would love to see espn finally throw its weight behind something boxing wise in this country

    Oh please don't.....

At a domestic level, there is no need.

the response so far would suggest maybe there is. and judging by the difference of opinion as to who is the "best" in our domestic smw division, it would be a great leveller

A Smith-Quigley rematch with the winner to fight the winner of a Dodson-Magee fight would do the trick. I can't see DeGale or Jeffries wanting to commit to a tourney at this stage of their careers

How long does this super six comp last..?

    How many months..?

I don't think there will be many super six comps again...! Its hardly got the world on the edge of their seats, most people don't even understand the format...........

On a domestic level, making a super six competition...which will last for months...!

Is totally over board, and dramatic...

People just need to calm down.

If you feel that way, fair enough.

I for one love the super six format, and it has got me on the edge of my seat.

How often does it happen that the fighters considered to be the "best contenders" in the division actually sit down and say, lets all fight each other, and see who comes out on top.

That is all i am saying for the british scene. And TBH it needs to happen, as although smith won (and i think he was the winner), there is a very split opinion about who the top guy should be. Smith? Quigley? Magee? Dodson?
see what i mean, it needs sorting

You don't need a 6 man, round robin tourney to sort that question out though.
