You do, as you have at least anderson and david in the mix, the fringe guys like maguire etc. It needs sorting. not enough of these guys fight each other, and politics and promotors aside for now, it needs to happen.

Relax!! It doesn't "need" sorting, outside of the top 4 its not even that pressing an issue to most hardcore boxing fans in the UK.

As for these guys not fighting each other....Smith and Quigley, Quigley and Dodson, Dodson and Magee have all fought each other. The other guys in your list are just make weights to get to the new magical number "6".

I think as long as it was over 10 rounds with a 8 week break between fights most fighters should be comfortable with it, (if they really think they are the best), it's just like a normal fight except they would all get the chance to fight each other instead of one saying the other is ducking them etc. I can understand unbeaten fighters not wanting to take part in prizefighter where they could have a bad two rounds and thats you beat, or get cut and your ****ed but this would just be a chance to prove your the best to everyone. I think there are good match up's to be made at supermiddle they just dont seem to happen.

Look at they way things stand we have.

Smith as British champion, some dont think he deserved the shot after just moving up, some think he got beat of Quigley.

Magee who many believe is the rightful champion more or less frozen out, he never lost his title in the ring, but there has been nothing said about Smith being made to defend against him sooner rather than later.

Dodson who had his shot, but blew it in the last round, but gave a good enough account of himself against Quigley to warrent a shot at Smith.

Anderson who has only had 10 fights but has more or less walked through everyone put in front of him (bar King who he was badly injured fighting) in a eliminater, with Paul David who to be fair has been matched hard but has 4 losses in 14 fights as well as a few wins against far more experienced men. So very hard to tell how good either of them are.

Quigley who gave Dodson a hard night's work and delivered a ko punch when he needed it, and who many believe was robbed by Smith, being told he get's a rematch, that to be honest he proberly wont get, so more or less puts him at the back fighting journey men to get back up to title level.

One thing they all have in common is they all claim to be the best at 168 in Britian, something like this would give them all a fair chance to prove who is.

Dodson and Magee haven't faced eachother they we're due to but Magee got injured and Quigley took his place.

Personally I wouldn't want a tournament involving the British title holder it ties down to many fighters for too longer period you can do that at a world level but not at domestic.

Most of the fighters mentioned are pretty inactive most of the time, I bet they would love to be kept busy in kind of thing.

These guys should wait it out to see how the other 4 pan out. Whats the rush? If they are good enough then a year of waiting will do them the world of good when they get in with Smith, Magee, Quigley or Dodson.

There's no rush really but as it stand's the winner of Anderson v David will be in a better position than, Magee,Quigley or Dodson at most they will be asked to have a final eliminater with one of the other three, where as the other 3 are just hanging about.

the facts are however that we dont know what fights we are going to get and when.
But with a comp, we will know that certain fights will take place, rather than not.

I know this will not be everyones cup of tea. its why i started the thread in the first place to see what people thought.
I tihnk if it ever happened, it would generate interest, and publicity for our sport, some pay days for fighters who deserve it, and give some one the right to genuinely day the are currently the best smw in britain. thats what its all about

It looks like Smith and Quigley will be rematched, all we need is Magee to fight Dodson and the 2 winners to fight each other. Anderson and David can get into the mix after that.

    Happy days!!

    Aye that would work aswell!!!.
I think right now Magee has the experience and skill to beat all off them, but I'd give Anderson as punchers chance against him.
