What are you talking about? Cubas style of outside stick and move boxing isn't that effective anymore, that's what you're really upset about. Did you just see the Ukranian middleweight in the semi-final? He knocked his Romanian opponent out, his Romanian opponent who beat the Cuban middleweight earlier and gave him a standing eight count. Did you see the Ukranian heavyweight Usyk? Great lateral movement, great footwork, very busy and very slippery while staying on the inside. Especially for a guy his size. Have you seen the Ukranian Lomachenko? Arguably pound for the pound the best amateur in the world. Ukranian boxers rightfully deserve to be at the top of the amateur boxing list. Ukraine and Russia seem to be the powerhouses of boxing at the moment, followed by Kazakhstan,England, Ireland and Cuba. The list reflects that, apart from an underachieving Irish squad and the Brazil team doing better than expected. The reason why Ukraine and Russia are at the top is that they treat the amateur game with respect, they train hard, they train to punch hard, they focus on technique, they have very tough competition just to reach the top of their national comps and then they want to do well for their country. USA haven't been a force in amateur boxing for a long time and Cuba are on a downward slide. Slickness and stylish boxing isn't working so well now, strength and inside fighting is starting to be what amateur boxing is about. For the better imo, that style combined with the headguards coming off after the next olympics should get every fight fan excited about amateur boxing again.
Cuba got 3 finalist too young new generation. 2 English and 1from Wales China,SouthKora and Japan 1 Brazil 1 and so many from old Sovjet-republics Must say its very high level in this World championship. And who said amateurboxing is boring ??? not any more hope the best of them join the pro-game. Evgueny Khytrov, Ukraine midleweight could make some noise in the pros from day obne, such a hardhitter.
Finals: Ukraine 5 Cuba 3 Azerbaijan 2 Kazakhstan 2 United Kingdom 2 Brazil 1 China 1 Japan 1 Korea 1 Russia 1 Wales 1
Have you seen the azerji super heavyweight? Looks like he could punch through a brick wall, if he turns pro he could do some serious damage. Maybe some stamina issues though. The Kazakh boxer he just beat looks like he could be a great pro aswell, his mobility and agility for a guy who must be about 6'6 was incredible. I should probably take back what I said about Cuba before, the Cuban light heavy who I thought was average managed to beat the favoured Russian using his movement, kept turning him and countering. It was very impressive.
in Ukraine we have plant of gyms that mean "old soviet school"And "soviet school" is the one of the best schools in the world!
Nothing really, they're both boxing. Apart from bouts that are shorter, more action packed and the best having to fight the best while representing their country. Which is what it is now but for some reason the casual fan thinks the headguard makes a big difference.
All that’s happening is AIBA team pro is expanding. Plyotard of all people should already know this.
No, the AIBA president has said that he wants to get rid of headguards. I've heard from people far more important than you that it's pretty much a done deal. What happened to your fighter Ward that you were hyping up to beat Lomachenko? I didn't even get a chance to see him, he got knocked out so early. Did you miss the gold medal match?
