Ranulfo Ray Bocanegra vs. Rod Michelle Dimaano Sarguilla, 4 rounds @ featherweight

 

Bocanegra battering the holy hell out of Sarguilla. Surprising that isn't, as he has a SEVEN INCH height and fifteen year age advantage.

 

And that's it, the diminutive southpaw Filipino veteran retires in his corner after 1 round.

Successful pro debut for 18 year old Tex-Mex prospect R.R. "El Rayo" Bocanegra, who comes in with a 120-16 amateur record. Now get this!! Later on this same undercard Ranulfo's older brother Xavier "X-Man" Bocanegra (currently 5-0) fights Rod's younger brother Romshane Dimaano "The Hammer" Sarguilla (11-10-2). It's a family affair!

Like when a set of brothers bangs out a set of sisters, except different kind of banging out.

 

Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu vs. Carlon Johnson, 4 rounds @ flyweight

 

Kharkhuu, a Mongolian-Los Angeleno, debuted in summer of 2023 and over his first year in the pros had all three fights go the distance. He scored a KO1 last time out in his fourth bout this past September.

A month before that, his opponent tonight, Carlon Johnson, suffered his first loss, also via KO1. Before that in his own pro debut he fought to a majority draw.

 

K̶O̶1̶!̶!̶!̶ K̶n̶o̶c̶k̶o̶u̶t̶ o̶f̶ t̶h̶e̶ y̶e̶a̶r̶ c̶o̶n̶t̶e̶n̶d̶e̶r̶!̶!!

WAIT, WHAT?!?! The ref lets it continue after Johnson went full on "tiiiiiiiiimber" slow-motion faceplant after eating a giant left hook. How, why?

Kharkhuu keeps pummeling him until the bell, and it's waved off at literally 2:59, depriving Johnson of being able to say he survived a round after improbably rising from that knockdown and coming tantalizingly close.

TKO1!!

 

Card has been bananas so far. Just ultra-violent one-sided shellackings. We're yet to finish a round.

 

Xavier Bocanegra vs. Romshane Dimaano Sarguilla, 4 rounds @ featherweight

 

It's the battle of the other brothers!

As with the opener, it's a featherweight four-rounder. As with the opener as well, there's a huge height advantage in favor of the American. (only five inches though, this time - 5'9" vs. 5'4")

Xavier at 21 is three years older than Ranulfo; Romshane at 30 is three years younger than Rod.

Lots of symmetry.

 

And, bing-bap, Bocanegra ends it with a check hook KO1.

The commentators sound surprised; they thought Romshane was going to put up a stiffer test. Not sure why, as he was stopped early in his last three bouts (coming off a KOby1 a couple of months ago).
