i love all fighting so will be interested in watching this.bisping is coaching uk team and henderson is coaching us team. will you watch this? or are you a die hard boxing fan and will refuse to watch it? this sport is far more advanced in the states so i hope the uk can put up a worthy team, and an upset would be great.:goodcome on uk.:vonnecunt
This going to be the only ulitmate fighter season I'm going to watch. Will be nice to see some new up and coming British fighters, as we only have a few guys towards the top.
Should be interesting. Hopefully there are some talented fighters on both sides and as Grievesy has pointed out, it would be good to see some new British talent come through. Junie Browning's brother is meant to be on the show, if he is anything like Junie I hope he gets battered. UK viewers, it will be shown first on virgin 1 then repeated on setanta. http://www.setanta.com/uk/Articles/.../UFC-TUF-9-viewing-dates-released/gnid-45953/ Its a good move in a way as people with freeview can now watch the show. It would have been better if it aired closer to when it airs in the US.
i wonder if junie's bro is the guy causing **** in the trailer. he is acting JUST like junie was so it must be him.
I hope the UK can put in some decent guys, I know Ross Pointon is back in, the guy is all heart, I watch him fight Marius Zaromski and he really showed some great stand up.
A few of the guys from my club went to the trials, one guy was cut at the last 20, another guy won all his grappling fights and was pretty much guaranteed a place but he doesn't strike so he declined. I worry for the UK guys because there wrestling is going to be **** compared to the US guys, the guy at my club is 85kg and he can beat me and i am 110kg +, but apparently only 5 or so of the guys had any skills. there is no wrestling in the UK, so when the fights go the ground the UK guys are going to loose.
Unless they have good BJJ. That's a pretty broad statement. Besides, if you want to be like that, then we could say that all the British guys are going to be kickboxers, so if they don't go to the ground then all the US fighters are gonna get KOed. Bull**** right?
In the UFC qualifiers the guys fought a grappling match, both opponents on their knees, our guy beat the hell out of most of the guys who qualified, but fair play to our guy he is good and is a submission Wrestling coach, he is either really good, or the competition isn't very good. Probably a bit of both. But your right most of the British guys were strikers, and they all seemed to be British / European champion, 1 guy was Cage rage champion etc.
I'm confused as to what the qualifing entails. So do they have what, pure grappling matches then pure striking matches?
The first stage was Bisbing and Dana White talking to everyone and giving a speech. Then everyone filled in a form, fights, win loose record experience etc. Then there was a no Gi submission rolling competition, basically 2 mins with opponents starting on their knees, then they took the names of the winners or the guys with skills and talked to them, Dana White came to talk to our guy and said "your good are you interested in the Ultimate fighter comp?" he said "I, am sorry i don't strike". If a guy was really good they talked to them. then Dana White asked who had fight experience, this is where the guys who were just out for the day were cut. Then the group was cut down to about 30. Then there was the second interview where striking was involved not much though. The whole process wasn't very long.
I find it strange how they don't seem to care about the striking too much. In the UK they probably didn't care much for the grappling. Perhaps they are trying to make some styles match-ups. Make it more interesting.
