Add in Mike Gibbons, Jimmy Delaney and Mike McTigue and close the thread.

Just off the top of my head, Joey Maxim must be up there.

McGrain is right with Greb though. And what an avatar.

You also have to consider the # of out and out tough *******s he met in between, guys like Roper, Delaney, Meehan, Shade, Keiser, not like he was treading water between facing these absolute top men.

And just looking through his record there's plenty of other names there too that are decent. Just a ridiculous record.

I'd still take Angott (decided he's the #1 now). Greb obviously has the better winning record.

I think Battling Levinsky deserves a mention

    Jack Dempsey
    Gene Tunney
    Harry Greb x 6
    Jack Dillon x 10
    Gunboat Smith x 6
    Billy Miske x 4
    Tommy Gibbons
    Georges Carpentier
    Young Stribling
    Jeff Clark
    Ed McGoorty x 3
    Jack (Twin) Sullivan x 2
    Bill Brennan x 4

He also fought Jim Coffey multiple times, Leo Houck multiple times, Mike McTigue, etc. etc.
