Umar Salamov vs. Doudou Ngumbu RBR

Round 5

Ngumbu is marching forward, putting on pressure with a pair of earmuffs loosely on, sliding up and down so he can peek at his target. Giant bombs from Ngumbu as he comes in, most deflected as Salamov puts out a spray of disruptive confetti with his long arms. Salamov is failing to lay many clean jabs on Ngumbu, as he is firing only timidly and intermittently on the backfoot. Ngumbu is shoving his way in close and working the body a bit as Salamov pushes down on him. Salamov lashes out with a long, soft jab and drops a right hand behind it on Ngumbu's face but is countered by a big fat hook.

Round 6

Ngumbu is letting jabs pelt his guard as he remains on a slow but steady conveyor belt in toward Salamov. Combinations from a distance by Salamov, dropping in some left hooks on the body in mid-step, keeping himself at range. Ngumbu marches in and throws some chops up at the head, delivered in a climbing arc from by his own ears. Salamov is forced to cover up. A bit of inside trading and the crowd starts growing excited, but Salamov is soon back on the outside throwing long & loose slaps down at Ngumbu's guard and grazing the upper head.

Round 7

Ngumbu is eating jabs but slashing high and connecting with a few right hands on the beard. Hooks downstairs by Ngumbu, reaching and just nicking Salamov on the solar plexus. Salamov is landing counter jabs as he is getting rocked back from the right hands of Ngumbu, and pushing out straight combos to gain space but not getting any snap on them or slowing Ngumbu down - his gloves, in fact, washing away on bent wrists upon impact with Ngumbu's guard or face.

Round 8

Ngumbu has Salamov on the run, throwing morning-star combos with his arms flailing in wide sweeps at the waist. Salamov is steadying Ngumbu with a double jab into the bundled forearms and then scooping in an underhanded right just above the kidneys on the far edge of the ribs. Ngumbu is doing a little showboating with a hands-on-hips dance & smirk as he soaks up Salamov's hardest body shots and doesn't so much as wince.

Round 9

Ngumbu is throwing a sloping left hand, undercutting Salamov's jabs and knocking them upward, off-trajectory from the challenger's face. Ngumbu is keeping the pressure on but only chipping away on Salamov with driblets of arm punching. Salamov is able to evade in a slow jogging shuffle, putting out long jabs aimed roughly at the face and lashing rights across the back of the head and then clinching as needed. Salamov is still able to bury the scooping right on the body after setting up with a double jab on the guard, but when he does so now is getting charged into the ropes as Ngumbu roars to life offensively (though landing next to nothing cleanly outside a few body swipes)

Round 10

Ngumbu is getting snatched every time he gets close. Ref ordering breaks multiple times per minute. Salamov is dancing away, reaching with the jab and tickling at Ngumbu's face or swaying to his left to hurl in a body hook while still at long range. Ngumbu is rushing in and firing off as many body shots as he can manage before getting held and smothered. Dead-armed wrecking ball left hook swung in by Salamov jumping into a clinch, bashing Ngumbu between the eyes but clearly not packing any force being thrown entirely from above the waist.

Round 11

Ngumbu is leaning back as Salamov throws a jab and long high-sailing right to keep him at bay. Salamov is playing jab-and-grab, keeping his right glove attached to his cheek and doing everything with his left arm. The ref warns Ngumbu for grinding with his skull a bit on the inside. Ngumbu tries some wide body combos but Salamov is able to wriggle his arms down in the way and pin Ngumbu's to his sides to smother his work.
