Turkish fans call him the next Mike Tyson and of course, he isn't really similar to him and far away of his level. But somehow he is interesting to watch. I know, most of you may not know him and will I'm gonna post some videos - but I would like to know your analysis: a.] what do you think about him? b.] how good is he in your opinion? (offense/defense, handspeed, footwork..) c.] how far can he go? d.] what opponents in the TOP 50 would be beatable and interesting for him? Some data about Umut: Age: 32 Record: 17:0 (16 KOs) @ Heavyweight Current Boxrec ranking: 44th Height: 6ft / 182cm Weight: ~ 265lbs / 120kg Some of his fights: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
On the positive side, he is aggressive and explosive in the videos. On the negative side he looks too heavy, he doesn't jab much, he holds his gloves up and gets in using head movement. It will be interesting to see how his stamina is in a long fight. It looks like he forces his opponents to fight his fight, that's a good thing, but it'll answer a lot of questions when he fights someone who uses angles, jabs, and doesn't allow him to close the distance without jabbing. His age might also be a factor since he is 32. BoxRec doesn't show an amateur career, do you know if he had one? His aggression might make him a dangerous opponent, but his conditioning might become a factor if his opponent can take him past the first few rounds.
Crude and doesn’t have the hand speed. Also looks like he’s already starting to slow down In round 2 of that third fight against someone even fatter. Doesn’t bode well unless he has a surprising engine and amazing chin.
Throws wide punches and leads with his head, perfect opening for an opponent to land an uppercut. Looks a bit obese, not sure about his stamina. Domestic level.
Being able to beat Charr isn't worth much at all at this stage. Still, he's a good Euro level guy. He had the European external title, right? I think I remember he won it over Arnold Gjergjaj.
When someone calls themselves the ''White Tyson'', ''Belgian Tyson'' and in this case the ''Turkish Tyson'' isn't a good indicator of their skill set. This Umut fellow looks very mediocre.
Thanks for the videos, I'd never seen him before. Of course his opposition is what you'd expect early in a career and he has some positives but he needs to come to America to train and spar with better opposition. And without question he needs to be at least 20 pounds lighter. If he works hard he could be a real problem in a couple of years, if he keeps on weighing that much he'll get exposed against a B type heavyweight fighter.
Good head movement in the first fight - some real 'Peekaboo' there. But the guys is too heavy. Needs to spend hours in the gym doing those Peekaboo drills over and over If he can do that, he can really get somewhere. The raw material is there.
Could be Turkish Alen Babic with right promotion. But when he needed to lose weight since he turned pro over 5 years ago, he gained weight instead. Trying to imitate Mike Tyson never works out unless you’re faster than the everyone else.
Not impressed, he makes Babic look crafty and technical in comparison. Just shows a little head movement, plows forward and throws. Not sure he'd even beat Eric Molina, think he'd be a sucker for a good counter and Molina still can be dangerous with the counter right hand until he gasses and he quits.
I'd never heard of this guy and I'm a Turk! Interesting style could lead to some fun fights if he can take a punch, could be a fun ride! Fun fact- his surname translates to glass breaker or glass destroyer!!!
Thx for your feedback, i can agree with you. At least i hope to see soon more of him and maybe in some bigger fights. He just had one amateur fight in germany before his pro debut.
