A glaring one in my mind is Tzyu not trying to get a rematch with Vince Phillips. It didn't hurt his career, though. He was carefully steered to a long victory streak after that loss. I think, though, that Tzyu never fought anyone as good as Phillips again, though, with the exception of Hatton and maybe Zab Judah.
Lomachenko lost to Salido in his 2nd pro fight. Salido subsequently priced himself out of rematch. Loma is complying a HOF CV but his distractor's no matter what he achieve will always bring up the Salido fight.
Page after UD losts to Berbick. Bobby Joe Young decsion loss to Kevin Howard. Alex Ramos loss to Ted Sanders Davey Moore loss to Duran Howard Davis Jr. loss to Jim Watt Bernard Taylor loss to Barry Mcguigan Mac Foster loss to Jerry Quarry. Milton McCrory loss to Donald Curry. Gerry Cooney loss to Larry Holmes.
WK bottleling the rematch against cherry picked Corrie Sanders. It doesn't get worse than that. Even David Pricey had the stones to step right back in with Thompson and he had only 15 fights.. Wlad had 40
I wouldn't say he was steered carefully at all. He was somewhat green when Phillips gave him a bit of a lesson and wasn't beaten for another 8 years. He beat a couple of highly hyped Americans in that 8 years too. Phillips was all over the place weight division wise and had his losses as well. Kostya unified all the titles and dominated.
Perhaps they could have rematched the next week, or perhaps the next day? As for Dempsey i'm sure the win helped move forward from the previous loss and draw.
I can read and believe you me not many would have been able to make much out of that jumble at all. I got a migraine trying to decipher it.
