I was a great amateur fighter. Could have been champion as a pro, but
fate wouldn't allow it. Who am I ?

SS, you are right Laszlo Papp of Hungary.Papp won 3 Olympic titles in a row, beating Jose Torres for a title..As a pro he won 27 fights without a loss..He beat Tiger Jones dropping Jones 3 times in the process. But
the communist party ended his pro career, not allowing Papp to leave the
    country.:good

I am pretty sure Papp wasn't undefeated as an armature. If he was i will stand corrected but i am sure he had amature losses.

By "unbeatable" I don't think he was necessarily meaning "unbeaten". Perhaps he was just alluding to the fact that Papp was unbeatable on the world stage. His trifecta of Olympic Golds would attest to that.

EB,you are correct .I was using a metaphor,in saying he was unbeatable
in never having lost a contest. He was so superior to all his amateur
    opponents in accomplishments..Thanks,EB...
