    1. Both Olympic gold medallists of African descent who represented Britain as professionals

    2. Both multiple time unified heavyweight champions with long cumulative reigns (about 7.5 years for Lewis, about 5 for Joshua)

    3. Both around 6'5, 245 lbs

    4. Both big punchers (Lewis 77% stoppage ratio, Joshua 78%)

    5. Both stopped a Klitschko brother in classic fights

    6. Both often criticised for being excessively cautious

    7. Both KO'd twice in substantial upsets, one being upset of the year for each

    8. Both failed to fight a key American rival in an era-defining megafight (Bowe for Lewis, Wilder for Joshua)

    9. Both beat arguably their two biggest name opponents when they were well past their best (37 Holyfield, 35 Tyson, 41 Wlad, 39 Povetkin)

    10. Both made controversial assertions of a similar nature (Lewis about Bruno, Joshua about Chambers)

Lewis represented Canada, not Great Britain, in the Olympics.

Lewis made twice as many successful title defenses (14) as Joshua (7).

Lewis reigned for nearly twice as many months in total as Joshua.

Vitali Klitschko was entering his prime when Lewis stopped him. Wlad Klitschko was 10 years older, inactive and fighting in his last match.

Lewis lost two times. Joshua has lost twice that many times.

Lewis is undefeated in rematches. Joshua has failed to beat two of the men who have defeated him.

Lewis successfully defended the WBC title14 times and was Ring Champ twice. Joshua never held the WBC belt, and Joshua never won the Ring belt, and never defended either.

Lewis retired as the Lineal World Champ having beaten everyone he ever faced as a pro.

Joshua is beltless. And just ducked a rematch against the last guy to knock him out (as his promoter says they're preparing to go on what may be Joshua's last run).

Not really so much in common.

Lots of guys fought one Klitschko brother.

Joshua may have more in common with Audley Harrison at this point.

    1. Both were Olympic gold medalists of African descent who represented Great Britain.

    2. Both were around 6'5".

    3. Both signed big TV deals in the UK when they turned pro.

    4. Both were criticized for being overly cautious.

    5. Both held the WBC and Ring titles for the exact same amount of time.

    6. When challenging for a heavyweight title in their mid to late 30s, both were dominated and stopped by smaller defending British title holders. (Haye and Dubois)

    It's uncanny. ;)

The big difference is Lennox was one punch KO'd while Joshua got his ass totally whipped and outclassed twice.

Joshua got up off the floor to win a fight (Klitschko) something Lewis never did,but in Lewis favour as mentioned he wasn’t taking a beating both losses were out the blue bombs !

I don't think Bowe was his main rival tbh. J think Holyfield was.

Bowe have up his belt rather than face Lewis, he also was a non entity by the late 90s.

Holyfield was consistently one of the best in the world and had two of the belts.

I'd say Tyson was a bigger "what it" than Bowe.

Plus he stopped Bowe in the Olympics.

Lewis stopped prime versions of Briggs and Vitali who were probably the two highest KO percentage fighters when he was active.

In both fights he ate some serious shots and came out victorious.

I think you're flattering AJ with that comparison, and i'm not an AJ hater by any means.

Lennox was one of the greatest HWs of all time, a h2h nightmare for pretty much anyone in history, and was no1 in one of the strongest HW eras. AJ was basically a solid workmanlike fighter with a bit of athleticism and power who did pretty well in a fairly weak era.

Can you honestly imagine Lennox at 34 getting completely outclassed and beaten from pillar to post by someone like Daniel Dubois?

Lewis was criticised a lot during the time he was active.
