Tune-ups is fighting a fighter in your own division, albeit probably ranked outside the top ten or barely top ten. Taht is a tune-up.

Welterweight divsion is shallow. Heck, even any division nowadays! Per division, the most that you could probably name fighters who have a shot at becoming a champion is probably 3-5.

Did clottey defeat any of the so called "elite" welterweights? He alwasy comes up short, because that is just the way he fights!

Testing up till the night of the event is BS in my opinion. I don't think they should mess with the fighters in anything less than a week before the fight. I think it might realistically weaken the fighters.

Take the Floyd - Mosley fight for example, they did the tests and Mosley looked done after about the second round. Floyd also got shook worse in that fight than any other, to the point that he now wants a vacation.

I'm not saying for sure that the blood test affected them, but it's a possibility. Floyd might rethink that up to the day of the fight blood test bull**** now.
