180 k seems unbelievably low for such a significant matchup. Do you think it's a smoke screen tactic designed to justify backing out of a rematch?
It's more of a gut feeling than anything else. I have never heard of a fight of that magnitude doing so pitifully at the box office. Let's not forget, it was one of the most eagerly anticipated match-ups of the last couple of years. On top of that, a pick'em fight. And it received a fair amount of publicity. Just seems like an improbable outcome as far as the sales are concerned. If it makes more sense based on these figures to look elsewhere for a different opponent, it would be excusable to the general public. I don't see him rushing to get back in there based on his performance. Kovalev,on the other hand, has to be extremely motivated to get back his title.
It was a pick 'em fight in the sense that the judges all picked the American to win anything other than a total demolition job by Kovalev.
People post numbers on here without a source and they're usually ALTs. Fan boys with their agenda run with it. Is there an official statement from HBO for Ward, Loma fights? And no Rafael or whomever is not an official source.
