And fought a career of 30+ fights.

This seems to be the expectation for greatness now days. Fighters must knock out or obliterate everyone they encounter. If a fighter can't dispatch every opponent with ease - we say that fighter was exposed, so...
List all the fighters that have done it, or are currently doing it:

The closest I could think of - who isn't undefeated mind you - is Vitali Klitschko. He never officially lost more than two rounds in any fight IIRC. But he did lose to Lewis and Byrd (but if you think the Byrd loss was legit then I guess you think Bellew legitimately beat Haye too)

    Vitali is a good choice.
I guess Valero is another one.

well, "close fight" is subjective perhaps, but a split decision obviously means that one of the three judges scored the fight in favor of his opponent, so i would classify a split decision victory as "close", at least by default.

and Calzaghe had two of those: Hopkins is one; Robin Reid is the other (1998 ?).

i would also classify a majority decision (at least one of the judges scores the fight even) as "close", but that's just my opinion (the OP gave no criteria to define "close")

what about unanimous decisions though? well maybe if we choose some threshold for average-margin-per-judge--let's say two points or less, so eg, 114-113, 115-112, 114-113.

did Calzaghe have any of those? I don't know. I do know that Calzaghe had over a dozen UDs and the scorecards for at least some of those were not close (Jeff Lacy), but maybe at least one of them was (eg, two points-per-judge difference), again, not sure.

Should have been Roy jones jr if he retired early but kept fighting and took losses. In his prime though I don't remember anyone winning any more than 2 rounds against Roy.

He lost to Griffin in his 35th fight while only 28 years old. Justified or not, he lost according to the rules.

And he lost more then two rounds against Griffin. He was down on one judge's card and only had a 1 and 2 point lead on the other cards. I don't recall having a problem with those scores.

So your memory isn't good and Jones don't count.

Edwin Valero 27-0 with 27 KO's. Only champion to retire with a 100% KO rate. 19 of the 27 KO's were in the very first round. Source to his Boxrec
