If he wasn't past his prime, it wouldn't have been his very last fight. He had fought 5 times in 5 years, he was past his prime.

not try, he would get on the inside.

Cotto isn't hard to find, even a plodder like Margarito pressured him effectively when Cotto inevitably ran out gas.

Hatton was no plodder, he had the best offensive footwork around at the time.

No he wasn't. Know your history.

Floyd fought once in 2009 and his previous fight was in 2007. He wasn't past his prime.

    :good

Cotto got beat down badly. His corner should have threw the towel in earlier.

But he did quit like a dog in the Margo fight, Plus we're talking at 140 not 147.

    Apples and oranges.

That's like saying watch the Mayweather and Pacquiao fights to see how Hatton deals with lefts.

I doubt Hatton would get Cotto on the run in this fight. Pacquiao was able to do so after he hurt Cotto. Margarito's size and strength advantage enabled him to do so, and look how much leather he had to eat to do so. Leather Hatton likely couldn't withstand.

More than likely this would turn into a Hatton wrestling match. Cotto's superior skills, sharper punches and left hook to the body and head spell another defeat for Ricky IMO.

Also, nobody has mentioned Mosley as a quality victory for Cotto? Certainly it was up there.

Not as good as a win over Kosta, though.

Cotto at 140 would have beat that same Kostya Tszyu at that time

Who did Miguel ever beat at 140 to suggest he would trouble the hitman? He was a chinny, unpolished mess at 140 and only really came into his own as he moved up. Even the his cv doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. Incumbent champions beaten? Erm... Crippled Yuri and Martinez. Every other time he's stepped up to the top table he's been soundly beaten. He's the undisputed king of winning vacant titles.

That said I do appreciate the creativity, skill and power of... his marketing team!

We have eyes, thats what suggests Cotto would give Hatton trouble at 140 and anyone who has seen Cotto fight knows he is better than Hatton.

I'd say a win over Torres at 140 is better than the majority of Hatton's resume, let's not even get into wins over Mosley, Margarito, Martinez, Quintana, Clottey, Judah, Mayorga, Foreman etc...

Would Hatton have beaten any of those fighters?

    Hatton

Cotto was always drained at 140 Hattons body attack would have stopped him
