Courtesy of the Ring. https://www.ringtv.com/529000-best-faced-sven-ottke/ Very interesting that his toughest foe was a young, rookie Mundine but his style is far from the upright classic european style Ottke was used to. I think Calzaghe would have stopped him inside of 8 but I think he would have beat Beyer on points had they fought. How would Ottke have done against the Super 6 or in the smw WBSS?
He should have had numerous losses to be honest. Some BLATANT robberies. He gave 'Euro' fighters a bad name for years. He wasn't a terrible fighter , had the odd genuine decent win but fk me it took years for some ppl to stop judging European fighters by this guy ..
Sven was a good fighter amateur and pro, but also received a few close decisions he perhaps got the benefit of the doubt with. The Mundine win was a nice finish. I'd have picked Calzaghe to beat him, Beyer would have been interesting.
When you're in such a comfortable zone rigged to your benefit you're going to stagnate as well as so "just enough to win" Ottke was a talent no question about it. Had he not been coddled I think we might have seen another level to him if anything even with a few losses he would probably be regarded(certainly more respected) than he is today.
