On paper, Corbett has the mobile footwork and he survived against the era's best offensive fighter that was Peter Jackson. The question is whether Corbett's head feints and foot movement would work at all against Spinks's well-developed punching. Unfortunately we will never have an answer since no films exist of Jackson. Would he look crude in today's terms or did he have punching technique on par with the modern boxers?

With too much guesswork involved when it comes to Corbett and the boxers of his time, I'd rather see Spinks proceed in the tournament.
