    Is that really controversial?

Put Rocky in there to replace Godoy and Louis loses imo. Godoy II is another story. The same different story from Schemling I to Schemling II. Louis did not adjust particular too well during the fights. This is a significant reality when analyzing H2H fights with Louis. If you want his ultimate peak Louis probably is favored, but again, it may actually take a trilogy for him to prove his superiority.

Can't understand why anyone think either fighter has a stylistic edge over the other. Louis didn't like to be crowded. This is something he stated. And Marciano is pressuring a compact, combination power puncher like Louis. It would probably be more of a chess match early on then people would think. It's the second half of the fight where I'd wonder what and how the events would unfold. Rocky wasn't the greatest finisher, but suffering a knockdown against Rocky would be far more graver than it was for any opponent of Louis that did. Same can be said to even greater emphasis for Louis against Rocky.

Marciano would not fight Louis the way Godoy did.

Actually he was. 2nd highest KO percentage for any heavyweight champion in history, 11-0 with 10 knockouts against Ring Magazine top 10, knocked out every rated man he ever fought.

This...Godoy had success coming in very very low and neutralizing the hands tying up real close and negating Louis's space. That wasn't Marciano's game at all. It was Louis doing the smothering of his bombs in their match, and I reckon he'd attempt to do the same first time out. Marciano was a crowder, but he threw his punches more from a slugging range than phonebooth style.

    Can't disagree with that.

I'm picking Marciano by no one can be certain about the outcome here. I'd favor Rocky 55/45 even though I rank Louis the #1 HW (Marciano #3). People talk about Louis' counter punching abilities, but Marciano was actually really good at it as well, in an unorthodox way that is easy not to see. Watch my video illustrating this here:

I can't imagine either fighter being the same after the war that this fight would be. I actually think Marciano's better durability gives him slightly better chances to see this through, but again, Louis beat so many opponents for so long, it's hard to pick against him..

By the way, one thing that is also telling about Marciano's greatness is that half of the sub-200lbs best-evers (the competitors in this fictional tournament) are Marciano-victims. Some of them had seen better days, but they were still pretty damn good.

I still consider Marciano to be one of the best p4p boxers ever, in a head-to-head sense.

Yes, because I denied Marciano was a powerful puncher. Thanks for that, I've also never watched any of his fights :huh Certainly not aware of his fights with Walcott either.

But more powerful than Louis? IMO Louis is the greatest puncher in history. I would say it is unreasonable to state that Marciano hit harder than him myself.

Marciano always said he liked a bit of range to throw his right hand bombs. Godoy was a mauler, spoiler and a clincher. Safe to say he was nothing like Marciano aside from both coming forward.

Louis was the best 200 lber, Marciano was the best 190 lber. That's what it comes down to for me.

It's a shame we don't have Louis blasting out an all-time great chin in Paulino Uzcudun with what was said to have been one of the hardest punches ever thrown. We have the rest of the fight, but miss out on the knockout.
