Under 200lb Tournament Round 1: # 13 Bob Fitzsimmons vs # 20 Roy Jones Jr

the physical attributes do not even compare other then power here which Fitz has.the edge..i see jones dominating early with plenty of knockdowns and just winning with ease..jones does not.tire but does take this fitz for granted and gets caught cold and floored for.the count..i honestly would put all i got on fitz

 

I've thought for a while that Fitz may be the most suited to fighting a prime Jones, his innate sense of timing could see him catching Roy will something sweet and banging him out at some point.

But I'll go for Jones, points. I also think Fitz had more trouble with the smaller, faster guys, so Jones may well be his worst nightmare as well.

The first time Bob lands cleanly its over for Mr. Jones. Roys glass jaw didn't develop with age, it was always there ready to be broken.

 

So rarely anyone landed cleanly on Jones for the best part of a decade, but you're definitely sure Fitz will?

Jones knocks out any guy with this much of ******ed stance and defensive techniques in the first round, easily

Technically horrible Jones would have a 100% punch connect ratio and land something huge to end the fight early against that defence

 

It may take 9 or 10 rounds but Bob would land sooner or later.

 

Haven't voted on this one yet, waiting to sift the wheat from the chaff.

 

Nonpareil Jack Dempsey was in a similar can't be touched situation at the time. There were even rumblings about him taking on Sullivan despite not even being a big middlewight. Fitzsimmons easily dominated him. Make no mistake, he'd land his thwacks.. :hey


LOL at Fitzsimmons stance/defense being ******ed when Jones did some of the exact same ****. Low hands, leanbacks.. What always blows my mind about you mocking some of these guys is that they essentially have the same style/strategy of the fighters you like the most. Jones, Hamed, Ali, etc. The only difference is they move around less and plant their feet more as a compromise between punching power, movement and stamina.

 

Verry hard match to make a strong pick (in defence of those who have voted for Jones).

I am going to go with Fitzsimmons to set the trap and close the show.
