Lyle-Shavers deserves more attention. Nuclear warfare.

Saddler's bouts deserve much more attention.

    Ellis-Patterson shone with talent.

EDIT - I read it like "fighters" and not fights... so sorry...

I guess we should talk a lot more about some Chavez fights, we should discuss the "robbery" in the Whitaker fight more seriously... in order to see that maybe there was no robbery there ! But that is for a "controversial opinion" thread I guess....

    Conteh / Ahumada.
A near flawless exhibition of box/fighting from Conteh, from memory the fight was seen as maybe a bridge too far for John, although he had been taking care of the british and europeans fairly comfortably Ahumada was seen, quite rightly, as a much sterner test, as it turned out Conteh fought his heart out, and not only outboxed the south american, but on occasions out fought him, I had the pleasure of watching him prepare for the fight, his workouts were intense, to say the least, after some floor exercises, skipping, and a little bag punching, it was time to spar, and he spared hard, his paid help earnt their money, he was vicious and spiteful, and more than one partner quit after a couple of days, had he not fought Taylor, or better still, if he did fight him, shame he didn't have Francis tapping his very slender and delicate hands, I often muse that he might have fought himself into greatness, but for his brittle hands, shame....
    stay safe guys.

Canzoneri's rematch victories over Kid Berg & Kid Chocolate should probably be talked about much more in general. Canzo blasted out not one, but two iron-chinned HoFers w/ one punch apiece & probably ruined both of them.

The Berg rematch at least is on film:

Not sure what you are talking about. Did you mean Meldrick Taylor's fight against Chavez? If you are saying that was a robbery, I agree. Sure, if the last round had been 30 seconds longer, Chavez probably would have taken Taylor out, but it wasn't.

No. I am saying people overreact about the Chavez vs Whitaker scorecards.

Two of your three suggestions have been discussed endlessly from what I’ve seen.

Guys flip on Gil Turner vs Gene Fullmer II for some rough and tumble inside fighting not clinching. Great bout I’ve never seen mentioned here? It’s narrated by Marciano.
