Usually when the toughest fighters list comes up its Fedor,Nog,Wanderlei,Fujita,Henderson ETC those guys and I think Jon Fitch just jumped into everyones list after Saturday to but name some guys folks dont normally consider to be super tough. Nick Diaz - It seems like hes always in tough fight getting nailed with clean shots and bleeding but he usually handles it well and pulls big wins out. Matt Hughes - Give the man his props I remember when Churato had him in a deep triangle,he survived BJs traingle in the rematch. Hes no ***** ill give him that what other guy would take GSP (and your title shot vs Serra)on a months notice considering what happened in the last bout,BJ was on short notice both times I believe but the 2nd is very impressive also on a months notice after the beatdown BJ gave him in 04. Joe Riggs short notice,Also Thaigo Alves a dangerous short notice opponet when Hughes couldve easily waited for the Serra fight. Marcus Hicks - See the Jamie Varner fight
Definately agree with Nick Diaz. He has a solid chin. He doesn't seem to have any sort of defense of any sort and his chin just outlasts others or his cardio does. For example in the Gomi fight. Gomi threw everthing he had at Diaz and he just took everything. Just about no one has done that. One hard mofo. I don't know if he's an underrated tough guy but Forrest Griffin is one tough dude. He took Rampage's hardest shot and went on to win, beat the super duper aggressive Shogun and went the distance with Tito. Hell earlier in his career i heard he fought and won a fight with a broken arm! Name someone else who did that ****!
Let's not forget that Forest's first professional MMA fight was against none other than former UFC champion Dan Severn. Forrest is as tough as they come. Even though he's currently champion, I would agree that Forrest Griffin is still underrated. Even now he is considered a transitional champion holding onto the belt for the first elite fighter that gets a title shot. It's up to Forrest to prove everyone wrong.
Chris Leben. They guy has taken some horrendous beatings but has no quit in him. Getting rocked by Terry Martin, then coming back to KO him is a good example. Pete Sell. This guy takes some horrible beatings as well, but keeps coming forward. He's willing to get into a slug fest, even when he knows he's going to come out on the wrong end of it. His fights with Scott Smith and Nate Quarry are good examples. He eventually gets knocked out, but it takes a lot of abuse.
kenny florian...toughed out his big beatings and is back near the top of the tree..forrest maybe the toughest guy tho..
Royce Gracie = look at is face against Shamrock in the draw, the armbar hughes had on him and the fight against Kimo Some Japanese fighters are pretty tough aswell
Guys like Leben and Diaz are mental midgets. Its hardly surprising they can take licks when they block most of them with there faces.
If I remeber right the guys name is Motsiu(SP) he took a beating against Vitor and Ninja and hung in there.
