what is everyones thoughts on the undercards fights last night and which fighter will go on to compete at a higher level? first up was james tennyson and after seeing him a few times now i don't think he will pick up the british title unless he is very very lucky, imo with more notice ryan doyle would have beat him as he just looks like a big robot with a decent punch. i also think that he is pretty much a bully and doesn't like being pushed back. marks up very easy too sean mcgoldrick looked crap last night, imo the ref was out of order and by taking the points off stopped starkey getting the win. i think mcgoldrick will end up like tom stalker and being just under british level unless he can improve drastically on last nights performance. imo his next fight should be a rematch with starkey paul hyland jr looked devastating last night but wasn't as impressive last time i seen him, did well and took out dingsdale in fine fashion so we know he is defo above area level now and i would like to see him in an eliminator for the british and look for ward to seeing if last night was a one off performance or if this kid really has the chance to be a british and maybe euro or world contender well after last night we know nothing more about mike perez other than he looks in very good shape for once and i for one would like to see what he has in his tank against stephen simmons. big simbo would show us what he has and also show us if simbo can make waves at british level and above where do you think the guys above can go? on another note who is that attention seeking manager of james tennyson and paul hyland jr, calm down pal its the boys who are the stars of the show not you
i agree and maybe matty asking would fancy his chances with him? decent pay day and matty has been looking much better recently. maybe just because i know him but i really want stephen simmons to take a chance against mike, simbo has never really shown his talent as a pro and this fight would properly motivate him.
McGoldrick Vs Starkey ended up a hard watch for me, I felt so irritated afterwards, the referee made sure McGoldrick got his win, he killed any chance for Starkey by taking points. I'm not having a McGoldrick winning five of those six rounds either, the referee was a joke and I hope he is never seen on TV again. Don't misunderstand me, Starkey wasn't a good watch and his style was rather basic and crude but he rushed McGoldrick, held him, tied him up, pressured him and bullied him at times and it worked for him. McGoldrick looked absolutely clueless for most of that and I don't think he will go very far in the professional ranks.
Oh and I felt really sorry for Perez, got himself in fantastic shape and was robbed of a real reward. I hope they don't pay that absolute joke of an opponent, he don't deserve paying.
I enjoyed the Tennyson fight and the rest was pretty uninteresting. Hyland Jr iced his guy early, I didn't expect it to be over that soon in fairness but that Perez fight was a total waste of time. Going to erase the McGoldrick fight from my memory and learn to be happy again. I didn't really enjoy the card as a whole to be honest, the main event wasn't greatly entertaining by any means either but I didn't expect it to be.
I enjoyed the card. I thought that Haskins although he lost put in a good shift and like i say, although he lost i thought that was the tiediest hes boxed for a while. Tennyson fight was good. And Hyland jr. Look fwd to seeing perez again. But it goes without saying that the night goes to Burnett. He put in a real good shift to beat lee and was overwhelmed with emotion at the end. I was starting to ask questions of burnett. Ive akways been able to see glimpses of potential but some of his recent fights have been nothing of note but he displayed everyfhing that i knew he was capable of and pulled it all together for one good fight. I started off a fan of burnett then iv wavered the past couple of years but im fully back on board niw
