Yeah, he was a great fighter, I think if you add up the record of his opponents then might just have more wins then losses.

Fighting about the same level of competition Pacquaio was, instead of at superfeatherweight they just dont let anyone hold a strap.

He didn't knock him out, whereas Briggs knocked him out for the count, albeit for a few extra $$$ in Mercer's back pocket.

The Lewis loss was a TKO.

    anyways,

Floyd Mayweather winning his first World Title in under two years from his pro debut, It's taken Andre Ward like 5 years to get his first title, took Lennox Lewis 3 years gain the belt, and it took Roy Jones 4 years to beat Hopkins for the vacant IBF.

Mayweather has never won/fought for a vacant belt during his career of 18 world title fights. Every win has been either him as champion, a unification, or him challenging a sitting champion.

Yup but it was due a cut and not from stunning or multiple knockdowns. But you're right that officialy it was ruled a TKO.

So was the Byrd fight, but that was entirely not because of Byrd's doing.

Nope it was a tko, Vitali would have won a technical decision hands down.
or rather Vit gave up the fight.

Prince Naseem Hamed would and should have been the first boxer in history to at some point hold all four World Titles in a division. Hamed stopped Vasquez, but before the bout the WBA stripped Vasquez of his title because they didn't want their title unified with Hamed's WBO title.

    LOL :good

I guess that's when someone inside the WBA came up with the 'super' title, just to prevent such 'unforunate problems' (read less control over their belts) from happening. :-(

I'll mention a couple of things from two of my all time favorites.

After he took a hellacious beating from Bobby Chacon, Danny "Little Red" Lopez had a tough time recovering, and lost to a couple really mediocre guys. Ultimately he went from "shot to **** club fighter" to dominant World Champion in just over two years.

Alexis Arguello went 17-3 in world title fights, never poached a title off a weak titlist, and never lost a title in the ring.

I realize that Little Red is in the IBHOF, and Alexis is universally regarded as an all time great, but I think these are under rated aspects of their careers.
