    Dunphy had that great gift of speaking directly to the viewer. Loved his style.

    In the UK some people gave Jim Watt a hard time but I thought he was a superb reader of a fight. I used to hate people in the South saying they couldn't understand what he was saying. Pathetic ignorance.
    Jim's 20 year partnership with Reg Gutteridge was brilliant.

    Jim Healey. I learned a lot listening to him doing the fights from the Olympic in the 70s. He was ringside and would comment when the crowd would react to a punch that wasn't as good as it looked, or point out effective punches that you could see from ringside but not in the stands.
    From him I learned to recognize when punches were effective by watching how the guy getting hit reacted.
