Paul Ingle vs Junior Jones (youtube.com)

Two very good fighters who provided a lot of entertainment in the lower weight classes in the late 90s. Junior Jones seemed to have exceptional skills - but his chin was always fragile and his stamina was poor.

Watching Ingle, he looks like a much quicker, better defensive version of Ricky Hatton - and more entertaining and exciting to watch. It is a shame his career was cut short.

Watching Jones, the notion he could have beaten Hamed (who I dislike and think is overrated) is fanciful.

Looking back on it and knowing what we know about both guys, it's hard to believe that Jones beat Barrera at all, much less beat him twice. He did fight an excellent fight in their first contest especially. I don't see Jones beating Hamed though. Certainly at some point, Naseem finds that fragile chin and bombs him out. 'Course, I would have thought Barrera would have done the same.

Ingle was fun to watch. I remember him giving Hamed problems and coming on later in that fight before getting stopped. Unfortunate the way his career ended. Would have liked to have seen more of him.

“Poison” was a perfect name for him given the surprising results against Barrera.
