Because I'm tired of seeing thread after thread about Canelo and AJ/Fury, who's on your list of underrated fighters people should be looking out for in the near future? For me it's Liam Williams Yordenis Ugas Maciej Sulęcki Josh Taylor (on a normie level) Juan Francisco Estrada (same as Taylor) Rey Vargas Jose Zepeda
i dont think ugas, sulecki or williams are underrated. the first two are gatekkepers while williams is a contender who is about to have the biggest fight of his career, there isnt a lot to talk about regarding ugas or sulecki. Josh taylor has insane hype and you can see almost daily threads about him Estrada is a lower weight champion who is consistently ranked in the top 10 PFP. he generates little buzz because casuals only care about featherweight and above, and the forum is mostly made of them . Rey Vargas is retired.
EVERYONE on this forum is like 2% of boxing fans everywhere. Most people have no idea when he last fought.
he hasnt fought in almost two years with nothing scheduled, if not oficially retired then fully inactive.
I agree completely, but my point is that thought he is respected by purists, he's grossly underrated on a casual level.
Unfortunately, that's always been the case for the smaller fighters. Ricardo Lopez comes to mind. One of the greatest fighters of his generation and mostly flew under the radar.
Kazuto Ioka is pretty underrated too, guy has arguably never lost, and has demolished some elite competition. Unified champion at minimum, champion at junior fly, champion at fly, champion at super fly. It'll be curious to see how he does at super fly, as he seems intent on staying for awhile.
