Who are some fighters, past OR current, who you feel don't get the attention they deserve, even though they have good skills?

I sometimes get the sense that Corbett was every bit as good as gene tunney, if not faster and slicker but without the footage it's hard to be sure. As terms as reputation went he was seen as a god for years on end.

Bert Gilroy, best remembered for 'the fights he never got' & 'the fights he was forced to take.

still relatively unknown and severely underrated.

tommy morrison for sure, he was much better than this overrated bum ruddock and he would have destroyed every version of ruddock, david tua hands down, this tank with ultimate power and iron chin would give to several legends a nightmare. JOE FRAZIER DEFINITELY IS THE ALL TIME GREAT MOST UNDERRATED H2H, HE WOULD HAVE KICKED THE ASS OF MARCIANO,DEMPSEY,WALCOTT,CHARLES TUNNEY, CORBETT, HOLMES,LISTON...

Holmes, Kalambay, and Happy Lora always dominate threads like this, but after a while they cease to be truly underrated.

On the otherhand, guys like Joe Brown, Freddie Steele, Randy Turpin, and Owen Moran never get mentioned as underrated, hence, they remain underrated.

Although there's been a renewal of interest in Tommy Gibbons on this forum, I still think many here on classic appreciate Gibbons' full brilliance. I didn't until very, very recently.

You've actually made him one of the most overrated fighters on the board.

The thread is too broad, we'd be here all day. I will say that Luis Manuel Rodriguez doesn't get the credit enough as one of the very greatest of all time, which he was.

LUF; Corbett looks shocking on film.

Why is this spacker still allowed to roam the board?

    Great post.

Or rather, many here on classic DON'T fully appreciate Gibbons' brilliance.

I think Qawi is oddly underrated here. Although everyone knows him, it doesn't seem like many think very highly of him. Personally I think he's a head to head beast. I'd favor him over Conteh, Galindez, Tarver, and maybe even Foster.

Freddie Walsh and Ishmael Laguna are both crazy underrated imho.

Tarver isn't very good in terms of H2H LHWs. No way Qawi beats Conteh IMO. He had the cultured left hand and movement Spinks had to fend Qawi of with.

I personally think Foster is the worst matchup ever for Qawi.

Laguna; f'n right, I posted some footage of him to YouTube recently :good

First thought was Morrison. He could lay waste to ALOT of Greats although most wouldn't be willing to admit it.

Manuel Ortiz never gets talked about/rated. Dude is criminally underrated.

Ortiz's greatness is overstated. Consistency but not a great era of bantams. Kikibalt says he's the best he's seen though which says a lot.

Tommy Morrison? You have got to be shitting me?

Certainly not the strongest era but he was did what any great fighter does and that's dominate who is avaliable. I think he also looks very good on film, very good body attack. Very durable too. I havn't been here all that long but seriously can't recall more than 2 or 3 people mentioning him.

I think Morrison is a very good fighter but gets overshadowed in the context of his era which was chock a block. There are alot of time periods I think he could've reigned supreme.

If that's the Ramos fight you're talking about it's a must watch. I thought Mando looked really good as well.
