Name some of your personal favorite boxers that have unfortunately either been forgotten by time or deserve more discussion than they get.

Preferably looking for boxers that could make a case for greatest boxers of all time (top-200 or 300, or so).

    Some of mine,

    - Kid McCoy
    - Nipper Pat Daly
    - Kid Chocolate
    - Baby Arizmendi
    - Gaspar Ortega
    - Les Darcy
    - Ad Wolgast

The original Jack Dempsey, nice. 'Nonpareil' himself.

EDIT: Speaking of Jack Dempsey -- what of Jack Dillon? Once described as a smaller version of Dempsey (the heavyweight, that is).

75% of fighters who have ever fought.

So many put in so much time, effort, and heart and soul into this sport, and never achieve enough to be remembered or celebrated.

And what does the common fan have for the brave warriors fighting for peanuts and a dream? Contempt. It bothers me.

Every time I knock a guy out, I feel like I'm condemning him to obscurity. Horrible feeling.

Really good fighter of my era that almost nobody remembers is Jesse Ferguson. Very tricky, crafty, talented guy. Wasn't all that strong willed, but if he could stay comfortable and keep his confidence, Jess could fight.

Tippy Larkin, the best PURE boxer I ever saw..So good a boxer he outboxed a master boxer Billy Graham winning almost every round. Decisioned the terrific boxer Willie Joyce 3 times...I over a 125 bouts won just about every decision except for being kod by the top punchers...

97 wins, MW, LHW, and HW Australian Championships by the time he was 26 -- geez, what could've been, huh?

Add Sands with Les Darcy to what seems to be a growing list of great Australian boxers who died too young. :?
