Frank Fletcher's an underrated fighter who Mugabi beat also. Not saying he beat world class guys on the way up, but his records definitely better than, say, another KO artist like Alex Stewart.
I first took notice of the guy when he destroyed Guiden. Nobody had gone thru Guiden before and he was one of those guys that always puts forth a solid effort in every bout, even in defeat. To take an inexperienced guy like mugabi--he probably didn't have 30 or 40 rounds of pro boxing experience under his belt & match him up with a guy with that much of an experience edge & just coming out of a title bout is/was rare. And Mugabi did some job on him and made you take notice. Mugabi going right thru a middleweight in Curtis Parker about 3 fights later was impressive also. You just don't see those kinds of matchups where they put punchers in with live bodies===almost always it'll be matchmaking against fighters with a history of being ko'd.
Not really. Julian Jackson, Julio Cesar Vasquez and Terry Norris all punched near as hard if not harder. Mugabi really commited to his punches, though, to his detriment when he encountered truly world class opponents.
