I feel like Gabriel Bernal often gets lumped in with the hot potato WBC flyweights of the '80s, but he was better than that.

Yup. Great call on Perez especially. I feel like he could’ve been great.

Alfredo Escalera - Defended the title 10 times - Lost only to Alexis Arguello but was winning on points till he got caught.

I had Arguello way ahead in both fights. Escalera was coming on fairly strong over the last couple of rounds leading up to the stoppage in the first fight, but that’s it. I was surprised myself after hearing about what a great fight it was. Still great action, just one sided for most of it.

Albert Davila was as good as you can get without being great. Lost to Zarate and Gomez, two all time greats. Barely lost to Lujan and Pintor in title fights, beat Pintor before either was champion. Then finally became a champ himself.

Charlie Magri and Hiroshi Kawashima are two I've been interested in again recently.
