Norris vs Leonard should be mentioned as an underrated upset win. I think people forget that Norris was a 3-1 underdog against Leonard, who was just coming off a one sided victory over Duran (who also just beat Barkley at that time). People thought Norris was too inexperienced and his chin wouldn’t hold up. But for some reason people always see this as Norris picking on an old past prime fighter rather than an upset win for Norris.
Probably the latter. Salazar caught Romero with a shot that caused an orbital blowout fracture that completely closed Danny's eye and forced his retirement. Romero was slightly in front on all three scorecards from memory but Salazar was catching him with some shots as Romero had seemingly little respect for him and was fighting rashly. He paid the price for it.
This is really interesting. I just assumed it was an upset based on Hagler's career and the promoter said Monroe fought the best fight of his life. It was probably the only uncontroversial loss or draw on Hagler's record, pretty awesome accomplishment for Monroe. Too bad there's nothing on youtube, Monroe said it snowed so hard that TV coverage couldn't get to the Spectrum.
