Is it 5 now? Usyk, Crawford, Bhop, Taylor & Taylor? Who's ascent to that status was most impressive & why?

Usyk for me tops that list - the fact that he went into the opponent's backyard on all his run elevates it a bit more than Josh IMO. Additionally I think that Uysk's win over Briedis is probably the best that any of them have getting to Undisputed, Mairis went on to win the Ali trophy when Usyk vacated with a pretty dominant win over Dorticos.

Bhop and Jermaine Taylor maybe get a bit more prestige because 160 is one of the original 8 divsions, and BHop has the better NAMES in Trinidad and Del La Hoya, but as Bernard was good at, these were smaller guys coming up in weight so I don't rate them as high as Breidis, and possibly even Prograis (who I think will come again and still achieve greatness - possibly even beating TTT in a rematch if it ever happens)

Excellent post. Usyk broke Holyfields record too didn't he?

Kostya Tszyu had unified all belts before WBO was considered important.

Usyk for sure. He not only unified the division in 15 fights he won his world title in his opponent's backyard against a 26-0 Glowacki, defended his titles in his opponent's backyards with the exception of once and that was on neutral soil, and he unified all his belts in his opponent's backyards against a 23-0 Briedis and a 26-0 Gassiev.

With world title wins at the weight also over a 17-2 Mchunu, 12-0 Hunter in his backyard, 40-4-1 Huck in his backyard, and a 30-2-1 Bellew in his backyard.

Some would consider Mchunu his weakest opponent in a world title fight but even he's really good and that was Usyk's first defence. Who the hell would opt to take on someone as slick, tricky and talented as Mchunu for their first defence and US TV debut for a voluntary?

Ye what he achieved was amazing , his win over Gassiev in what many thought was 50/50 fight was his crowning moment, schooled him.. whereas the likes of Taylor Ramirez was more competitive. Gotta hand it to Taylor tho he's not far behind, Ali trophy & undisputed in 18 fights is it?

If Spence is fighting Pacquiao, I'd like to see Taylor fight Crawford.

And when he's dispensed with him and Manny has dispensed with Spence he can fight his hero Manny after that

'British WBC and IBF light welterweight world champion Josh Taylor will face American WBC and WBO lightweight world champion Jose Ramirez on May 22 and has expressed this week the possibility of moving up to welterweight and looking for a possible fight with his idol, Filipino world champion in eight weight classes, Manny Pacquiao.

¨Pacquiao is my hero and I appreciate many things about him. He is a great champion and a very nice person. He donates money for great causes and helps the poor. He is a gentleman in and out of the ring. He is a great warrior with fast hands that can create hell in the ring,¨ said Taylor

Taylor recently got a tattoo tribute to his late dog. The dog was named 'PacMan' - a name given in honor of Pacquiao.

"Manny is a hero of mine so when we named the dog it came about naturally, I could never have dreamed back then of fighting him but I would still love to now, 100 percent," Taylor told The Sun.

"As soon as that bell rang it would be down to business, even though he is an idol of mine and he isn’t as young as he used to be, he is still a dangerous top-level fighter so I would have to be ruthless."

Josh Taylor has done really well to join the group of undisputed champions.

Usyk's route to undisputed was most impressive imo with the list of opponents he beat away from home.

I know most are still celebrating Josh Taylor's win and that's great.

I think he will be a star for years to come.

But Jermain Taylor ending Bernard Hopkins' decade-long reign and winning all the titles, and beating him a second time in his first defense, is better than decisioning freaking Gassiev or beating Regis Prograis, for God's sake.

Unifying belts in relatively weak divisions isn't the same as knocking off an all-time great who refuses to give them up.

And Gassiev and Prograis and Ramirez and whoever the hell Crawford beat ARE NOT all-time greats.

You don't rate Jermain ending Bernard's decade-long middleweight title reign and winning all the belts as highly as beating Regis Proograis and Mauris Breidis?

    You don't? Seriously?
