I rate that win, but who else did Taylor beat aside from Bernard? Joppy? It's the RUN, and arguably Bernard did all the hard work for Taylor. Usyk's is much more impressive to me, especially as it was all on the road.
Ye but you gotta factor in weighing 160 @ 40 years old & the effect that was having on his capabilities.. the fact that he made 175 easily after that said a lot.. I don't think that sole win* in the context of that is as impressive as everything Usyk did. Ask yourself how much longer Hopkins could have been a middleweight? I doubt it would be long.. Of course Hopkins is an ATG tho & a better name but its not quite as simple as that.. Example: Steve Collins beat both Benn & Eubank, yet I still wouldn't rate him over i.e Calzaghe or Froch.. In the round I don't think its as impressive as Usyks path.. was Taylor that good of a MW or was Hopkins done? The fact that Taylor almost lost to former WW Spinks , Wright & got shellacked by Pavlik etc later on would suggest the latter. I'm not saying Taylor wasn't good, he was for a time, but most of his better opponents either got the better of him or were unlucky in close fights. Bit of a privileged stay at home protected HBO hype job somewhat.
You can name all the examples you like, knocking off Bernard Hopkins for the all the belts and ending his 10-year reign is better than beating freaking Regis Prograis and Gassiev. I can't even believe you're arguing this.
So the "hard work" is unifying a notoriously crappy division like cruiserweight ... Not beating an All-Time Great, who has all the belts, and has been champ for 10 years (and then successfully defending against him in the rematch)? I couldn't disagree more.
