Vic Darchinyan makes statement with R2 KO over interim WBC champion Tomas Rojas!

    ____________________________________________________________________________

Name one fighter in this decade who faced five reigning world champions in a row - other than Vic Darchinyan obviously, the one I'm naming. The Undisputed World Superflyweight Champion knocked out Kirilov (IBF), Mijares (WBC, WBA) and Arce (Interim WBA) for all the 115lbs belts (with Montiel already left the division without vacating) and moved up to face 118 champ Joseph Agbeko which proved too much and lost a competitive decision.

The Raging Bull is back with a bang however as he puts his undisputed title on the line vs. interim WBC champ, Tomas Rojas, who's record might be decieveing as he has no less than 11 losses, but if you remember his fight vs. Arce, you know he's a dangerman. Rojas, a powerful southpaw who was never knocked out before, pretty much schooled Arce winning a shutout on all cards when all of the sudden Travieso landed the traditional left hook to the body and it was over. Arce was very very lucky to come through Rojas, a tall, long handed fighter who's winning ever since, incl. winning and defending the interim championship.

You gotta understand that the ONLY demand Vic Darchinyan has regarding opponent selection is that the foe has to bring a world title, alphabet, lineal, undisputed, it doesn't matter. He does not fight guys with a beatable style or guys his size/smaller, he fights everyone, and that obviously maximizes the chance of a loss, which happened in July when the Raging Bull moved up.

Can Rojas repeat and give Darchinyan his 2nd loss in a row, or is the Raging Bull back on track?

I'm amazed that there isn't more talk about this fight.

Also, how many people hate on Darchinyan. Is there anyone with more balls?

I give him a lot of credit for bouncing back like this after the viscious KO it took from Donaire.

Yeah, it seems to be the "in thing" to hate him.

I wish I was cool enough to hate a guy that may be the single ballsiest fighter in the world. I mean, it would be such a crying shame if every other fighter was so willing to take on the best available competition.

But I just don't seem to be cool enough to get on that bandwagon. Ah well, you may well get your wish. He may get beaten again. Sooner or later he will be and he is getting older, he will be gone soon.

Then you and everyone else can ***** about how fighters don't seem to want to fight each other and good fights seem so hard to make.

Well you are a Haye fan.

You don't exactly respect ballsy fighters.

  11. I think he still should be in the P4P top 10.

vic may have an abrasive style when being interviewed but he is, as someone else mentioned everything you want to see in a fighter. if he was in a higher weight class maybe he`d get more love.

even though donaire ko-ed him, did you see how scared donaire was in the post fight interview? i bet nonito wakes up in a bed full of **** after having nightmares about fighting vic again. he wants none of it!!

I could still see a damn good argument for him being in it.

Vic is a prime example of why alot of fighters don't push themselves to take the toughest fights- he wins most of them, but when he racks up a couple of losses along the way, people hop off the bandwagon. Too many "fans" ***** about level of competition for fighters they don't like, give their guy the benefit of the doubt even if their competition isn't the best, and then punish those who fight the best they can if they happen to get beat along the way if they don't like them. In theory that looks pretty unreasonable, but I'll be damned if in practice it doesn't turn out just like that.

Either way, this is another tough fight for Vic that carries more risk than it'd appear on paper. I'm picking him to be the one to stop Rojas, but I can't say I feel extremely confident in that prediction.
