It just occured to me that this is a Golden Boy card with millions in the bank waiting for DLH if Hatton wins. Since it is likely that Hatton will be the aggressor in the fight, a decision in his favor would be arguable even if he is clearly outboxed. Demetrius Hopkins-Steve Forbes, and Joel Casamayor-Santa-Cruz showed that when there is a potential investment on the line, DLH makes sure to protect his investment. This is the worst posible outcome for boxing. Don't get me wrong, if Hatton earns the win that's fine by me. But I have a feeling that unless Mayweather embarrasses Hatton to win a Wide UD or a TKO, that the decision will go to Hatton. All he has to do is win 4 rounds and that'd be enough to argue affective aggression on the rest.
I'm not "getting in the excuses early" it just occured to me that this could really happen. I wouldn't have thought so until I saw Casamayor-Santa Cruz. After I saw that, anything's possible. That fight is PROOF that sometimes, the fix is in. As far as my personal view on the fight is concerned (since I'm sure there are a bunch of posters who will prefer to call me a "hater" than comment on my analysis) I am more conflicted now than ever. I rewatched Hatton-Collazo and thought Hatton looked very beatable, either losing by a point or being held to a draw. But after rewatching Mayweather-Castillo 1 yesterday, it is clear to me that Mayweather lost that fight by a point or two. So both men have shown that they are beatable (despite their undefeated records) and it really just depends on who brings their A-game.
What kind of Floyd nuthugger admits that JLC won their first fight and bet $100 on Baldomir? I guess this stupid one did...dip****
Everybody hop off Oscar's Golden nuts and at least speculate that this fight could be rigged. Do you know anybody more vindictive or greedy than Goldie? He's even giving Hatton advice and making sure he gets the best sparing partners. What would they say if Don King took sides like that even though he's the promoter. Wouldnt that be conflict of interest?
No one was going to let the small matter of Sturm kicking his ass get in the way of the historical middleweight showdown with B-Hop either. But we can't really have fear of this kind of shady business prematurely. If it looks dodgy afterwards then it will be a huge talking point. For now we have to assume it's just another fight. A great fight.
I'm starting to get that feeling as well. Oscar hates PBF and he hates the fact that he couldn't beat him when the two met in May. It's no secret that Oscar wants Hatton next. GBP has had some shady judging in some fights lately.:think
Then again, Floyd got a tight decision over Oscar himself. If Oscar could control decisions, that would've been it. :hey
There are going to be more threads about the unfairness of the decision than in the pre-fight. You just gat to think, can Ricky win five rounds out of the first five and the last five? Yes, he can win four of the first seven and go into the last five ( 8th to 12th rounds) to win at least one of those. Same thing with Mayweather even though he's favored to win more at the end stretch... Where does that leaves us? Two rounds to decide the fight - round 6 and round 7! Remember Cotto-Mosley or even that Hoya-Mayweather was undecided into the last round. Yes, I do believe that outside influences ( Hatton-Collazo and Mayweather-Castillo) play their role on the judges minds at real time b.c. once the round ends, they only have one minute to decide who are they giving the close round to.
Good point, but I consider the fact that one judge gave it to Oscar enough of a sign that something fishy is possible. In Oscars case, there was no way to argue effective aggression because he faded so badly down the stretch and didn't really pressure Floyd well. I don't think Hatton will fade the same way and I think his aggression will be more eye catching, even if it isnt effective.
"Ricky Hatton, who was outlanded by north of 200 punches according to compubox, dropped in the 3rd, 7th and twice in the 10th and badly cut over both eyes has won a lopsided UD over Floyd Mayweather tonight!!!!" :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
