Completely agree that they dont. But Pac is one of the few fighters to campaign at a higher weight class out of choice. When Pac was tearing up WW in 2009 he could have made 135 still with ease. Even 130 was possible.

    Pacquiao is special.

He was never supposed to be a good boxer, nevermind an All Time Great.

He was never supposed to be effective at 147, but he's one of the best ever welterweights.

He was never supposed to fight again after KTFO6, but he came back and dominated Rios, Bradley, Algieri, Vargas, and Matthysse.

He was supposed to have been knocked unconscious this weekend and never been seen again, but he put on a violent clinic.

If anyone COULD do it, it's Pac. But damn, that's a heck of an ask for a guy who's already had a career full of overcoming crazy odds.

Pacquiao knows his own body. He's very quick to say he can make 135. Most fighters when asked are very quick to shut down going down in weight.

Just like he knew after the Margarito fight that there's no possible way he can ever fight above 147 again.

Pac would make 140 comfortably, and by making 135, I think he means drain himself to 135. I remember when he used to fight at 130 and come fight night 143/144. Now he comes into fight night 148/149? Basically, he's put on 5lbs in 10 years and thats whilst doing weight training + 9000 daily calories diet.

Essentially you can gather from that, he is probably not far off in size as he was at 130lbs, the only difference is he can't do that kind of draining anymore at this age. 135 would also be a stretch since he's possibly put on 5lbs of weight since then, so going down to 135 would be the equivalent of him going to 130 10 years ago, which was doable but obviously drained him.

147 is his most comfortable weight, but 140 is easy, if he doesn't force feed himself, he would probably be 140 without trying to lose any weight.

This. PAC carries almost no fat at 147. He would be skin and bones at 140 and at 39 years old he is too old to be cutting weight anyway. After the first 2-3 rounds the weight cut will really start putting a hurting on PAC. At 147 at least Loma wouldn't be handicapping an old and shot fighter, but at 140 he would deserve no credit just like he deserves no credit for making an old Rigo jump two weight classes.

Oscar Foolishly thought he could cut weight at 35 and learned the hard way. Chad Dawson also was an idiot and drained himself and was easily beaten by Ward. Roy Jones also destroyed what little career he had left by cutting back down to 175 after fighting at around 190 pounds.

Pac doesn't have to drain. If he just trained boxing, don't eat 9000 calories a day, don't weight train to build muscle, he'll come in 140 or below. He reaches about 143lbs during training camp, and has to consume the calories and do some weight training to go up to 145/146 and has nice meals before the weigh in.

Lets assume he's 142 completely fit, well he drains some water weight, 2lbs, thats easy.

This doesn't make sense. You just admitted PAC would have to dehydrate himself to make 140, which would mean he would need to drain himself to fight at 140. Also, draining even 2lbs is not easy when being in the type of condition that an athlete like PAC is. Mayweather himself wisely came in at 146 instead of the mutually agreed upon 144 for his fight with JMM because draining down another 2lbs would've been detrimental to Mayweather's performance.

Look how lean PAC is at 146 against Matthysse, who was also 146, but clearly carrying a lot more fat around his waist. If he drains down to 140 Loma would kill him in 2 or 3 rounds. Also, remember that PAC would be 40 if a fight with Loma were to happen.

    PAC's weight from 2018 to 2013
    146 against Matthysse
    145 against Jeff Horn
    146 against Jessie Vargas
    146 against Timothy Bradley
    145 against Mayweather
    143 against Algieri
    145 against Bradley
    147 against JMM

You really believe that Lomachenko would get zero credit got beating Pac at 140?

Well considering Pac was fighting at 130 and coming in at 144, he had to DRAIN 14lbs, as do most SFW, and LW's like Rios would come in at 150 for a fight at 135, he was draining 15lbs. 2lbs drain, even at 40, is nothing.

I'm not quite an elite athlete, but I did compete amateur and walk around 65kg, I had to drain to 60kg and was at 8% bodyfat, I've also pretty much lifted weights all my adult life and my weight has fluctuated between 62kg to 70kg. So elite athlete or not, 2lbs really isn't all that, specially if he had to build muscle during training camp to get to that weight in the first place. Put him on just pure cardio, and decent diet, he probably will make 140 without even dehydrating, and if he did still end up at 142/143, thats still only 2lbs of water weight. 40 or not, its still nothing. I've taken dumps heavier than that!

Pac is a top 5 WW still and an ATG, arguably believed by most to be unbeaten in his last 4 fights, I don't think even they believe that.

Oh well. Could have been interesting. Sometimes the weight differences are just too much.

I think Pac can still make 140 with no problem at this point.

This is what Freddie Roach wanted before as he was seeing Manny's athleticism taper off. He was actually preparing for Manny's eventual drop to 140 when he always said Manny was actually still a 140'er fighting above his weight class.

I was surprised when his camp said he was actually at 145lb just a few days prior to the weigh-in...if true then it only adds further credence to what Roach has always said.

You guys are totally perverse with your Amir Khan brain damage fetish. You really wanna see Amir dominate Pac silly for 6 rounds before getting knocked out senseless? Can you explain what's your gain here?

    Bring on Crawford.
