Parker just passed a bigger test than Joshua has as of yet and proved he has a chin in the process. He did lack in stamina slightly but so did Joshua against Whyte for periods after the body shots. Parker does look a bit open to the right hand though so not sure if he can stand up to Joshua's power, but Joshua has a suspect chin so who knows what will happen. Very interesting fight, I'd give the advantage to Joshua still since the fight will happen in the UK.
dulhaupus both for joshua and parker but as it is parker v joshua will meet before they both are far from the complete fighters they will be in 7 fights respectively each.
I'd go with speed over power. The kid needs more head movement! If he can improve his defense in 2 years we can talk world beater. Right now he is a top 5 HW in the world. :bbb
His chin and composure look good. I'm not trying to hate on the guy. We want fighters like him to be coming through and making boxing more exciting. I genuinely wish him well. I'm just not a believer after this weekend's evidence. I hope he can win me over.
championship material or not. I like Parker's hand speed. He's got some speedy stuff on his handwork and a decent chin. A true Maori warrior!
Didn't Povetkin pretty much go blow-for-blow with Takam before knocking him out? Parker's problem was he gassed. That's a big problem. But apart from that, when he actually had the energy to throw, he was clearly the better man. Doesn't that mean that Parker now has a shared opponent with Povetkin and arguably did better than Povetkin, before gassing? I fail to see how that's a disappointment to anyone or proves that he's not good enough yet. All we really saw was a world-level talent with stamina issues.
Pretty much, and Takam is clearly an exhausting dude to fight. If Povetkin didn't have meldo in his blood then I'd say he'd have done no better than Parker overall. If Parker worked his jab better I'd say he'd have not gassed as much - he used some pretty energy sapping techniques at time and no doubt Takam drained him a little in the 5th round with some of his hammering. Parker clearly wasn't totally gassed (as in nothing in the tank) in terms of the full 12 rounder as rounds 10 and 11 were busier than the mid rounds - he threw the massive combo in the 8th round AFTER people were saying he was gassed. More relying on the jab and general discipline and he'll gas less with the exact same amount of fitness and probably do better fighting an equivalent fighter. Ftfy
Yeah he didn't totally gas but he looked gassed in the 5th and then "managed" his energy resources for the rest of the fight and still won most of the rounds. However from rounds 2-4, when fitness hadn't even become an issue yet, he had Takam's number easy.
Because he is.:deal And what definitive evidence do we have that Martin and Whyte have ATG chins??????????????????????
