okay now we are getting somewhere every other champ will know wladimir is the one to fight if they wanna be the real champ.

    WBC:
apparently if vitali cannot get through training camp for the maskaev/peter winner, wladimir might step in. not a bad solution. rather than be disappointed that vitali will be replaced by a tomato can, wladimir would make an even better replacement obviously and unify yet another belt. (he'd ko maskaev and peter. based on how they match up style wise.)

    WBA:
this is a tricky belt. if universum thinks chagaev is actually deteriorating as a fighter, rather than lose it to a nobody, they might be willing to make a deal with their former pupil IF the money is good which i think wont be a problem in germany. there is bad blood between them but money talks!

as for when all this happens. WBC might be in wladimir's hands this year if vitali is injured in training again... which is quite possible! but it also depends on if povetkin and/or thompson kick up a stink about it of course.

the WBA belt definately wont be fought for this year. i reckon they will milk it for all it's worth before there is no other options.

IF the mandatories must be fulfilled this year, i suspect wladimir will fight thompson in middle of year (since he's waited the longest and is also the older fighter so will be pushing his case harder), and then against povetkin at end of year.

this will mean wladimir has unified part of the belts, and fulfilled his mandatories for both belts. he will then have about 1 and a half years to chase chagaev and top ten rated fighters like valuev (who would present an interesting style matchup if nothing else).

2008 is clean up year. and 2009 full unification! (i hope... :D )

Who really cares anymore? I will no longer follow the heavyweights until someone exciting comes along.

true that full unification doesn't matter. but if you beat the other champs then drop the belts, then it doesn't matter because everyone knows who the man is.

like how lewis dropped his belt to "avoid" john ruiz or byrd. i seriously doubted lewis was worried about them, but it was just conveient for paydays and better matchups to drop them.

if wladimir can get the wba belt -even if he drops one of the belts soon after - it doesn't really matter. but the fact he grabbed yet another belt reinforces the obvious. that way he can fight against fighters who are more willing to get into a trade. if he only had 1 belt and had to face a string of mandatories like sultan, it would get rather boring. at least more belts means more options as far as mandatories go.

i mean, if you had 3 belts, and two mandatories were like sutlan, while the other mandatory was like sam peter, who would you prefer to fight? especially if you know it will be a crowd pleasing fight?

sultan stunk up the joint verses holyfield and briggs so in hindsight i am not really that surprised he came to purely survive against wladimir.

Well the fight i'm most looking forward to is wladimir vs chagaev. that will be an interesting fight......but this is the naked truth.....if you like wladimir then you will be satisfied with the soon to be undisputed heavyweight champ....if you don't like him then you will find satisfaction on the lower weight classes...prefferably with Pavlik or Taylor.
