How likely and how easy would the fights be able to make for Junior Witter, because right now the only way I can see Witter ever fighting Hatton is if he manged to unify the belts, is this possible ? Could all those fights be made, does he have enough time ?

Surely Hatton would have to fight Witter if he ended up holding all the belts ?

I like both these fighters, but I do feel for Witter

Didn't he put Lovemore N'dou on his arse 3 times then fight the last 9 rounds with a fractured hand to win a decision over in the states ?

The fight with Zab was years ago on a few weeks notice, so I dont pay much heed to that fight.

I agree that his best bet is to go after Kotelnik and Torres then people will have to take notice of him

I think he should target Kotelnik. Torres is already scheduled to fight Holt next, and there's no guarantee he beats him. I doubt there is any unification bout at 140 this year. It's too hard with all the mandatories and politics in boxing. Kotelnik vs. Witter is the only possible one I can see happening.

If Malignaggi beats Hatton, I can see him wanting to fight Witter next. If Hatton beats Malignaggi, he'll continue to duck Witter.

If it happens it will be Witter-Kotelnik for the WBC/WBA and Hatton-Malignaggi for the IBF with the winners fighting each other. Ideally it would be Hatton-Witter for the undisputed 140 title at Wembley.

It doesn't matter who unifies the 140 division ... Ricky Hatton is still the champion ... he's still undefeated in the division ... he's still a 3-time champion of the division ... he's still the linear/ring magazine undisputed champion of 140.

I don't think that anyone in that division is skilled enough to beat Hatton right now who's in his prime.

Hatton is not the undisputed champion at 140. And isn't he a two time champion and only because he vacated the IBF and won it again.

How come he's not the undisputed champion? ... he beat the long reigning undisputed champion Kostya Tszyu ... that means that he's the undisputed champion ... lineage is there and its through the ring magazine belt.

Kostya Tszyu - linear/ring magazine/IBF and universally recognized undisputed champion

Carlos Maussa - WBA 140 champion

Juan Urango - IBF 140 champion

    thats 3-times bro ... if you can't count !!

Just because he vacated a title, then won it doesn't count towards his title count?

    Its simple mathmatics bro ...

listen bro, Zoo wasn't the undisputed champion - he was just the IBF champion. He no longer held the WBA or WBC titles.

I didn't count Hatton's WBA title because he held it at the same time as the IBF. It's like when people say Lewis is a three time heavyweight champion. They're not adding up all the belts he won, they're just adding up the title reigns.

The lineage in the ring title was the undisputed championship ... he held and defended those belts and was stripped due to inactivity but was still universally recognized undisputed champion.

If you win one belt ... then go on and win another ... then you are a two time champion.

Don't take the Ring title too seriously mate! Zoo was IBF champion. When Hatton beat him he became IBF champion.

This two time champion business is just a matter of convention. I'd say he was a champion at 140 when he beat Zoo. Then he vacated his title(s) then he beat Urango for the IBF and became a champion at 140 again. So I'd call him a two time champion at 140.

Witter should go for a unification, I cant see him getting Hatton in the ring anytime soon, If he wins a couple of belts he'll put even more pressure on him.

Hatton can pretty much pick and choose who he fights at 140, if he wants to unify he can he is the golden goose of the light welterweight division, everybody wants a payday against him!
