Just watched a YouTube vid from Boxing Legends TV and they mentioned this about Usyk: “It was reported he only lost 1 round in 2013” Edit: this includes amateur fights that yr That is no doubt the most insane achievement I think I’ve heard of in boxing (no idea how true it is) Anyone got any other unique / interesting facts like that?
Roy Jones managing to navigate his way through his entire steroid enhanced prime without ever facing a savage puncher Roy Jones getting knocked out x 5 on 3 different continents Roy Jones getting sparked out cold face first x 2 in Moscow Roy Jones for the longest duck in the history of the sport. He's been ducking Steve Collins for 2 decades and counting
Bermane Stiverne becoming mandatory challenger for a world title after beating journeyman Derric Rossy then not having a fight for 2 years.
Are you ****ing kidding me? Usyk fought 9 rounds in 2013 against 2 fighters who had 22 losses between them. It's shameful he even lost 1 round.
Shannon Briggs becoming a Lineal HW champion of the world in a fight he clearly lost to 49 y.o. George Foreman (who should've lost his Lineal title 2 years before when he was clearly outboxed by Axel Shulz).
I’m sure others have accomplished that feat before.....Floyd Mayweather for One who would only fight once a year towards the end of his career would not be a surprise to have accomplished this feat. He’s pitched many shut outs
In his last four fights, Vasyl Lomachenko successfully defended his WBO Super Featherweight title by forcing each of his opponents to quit in between rounds. Walters RTD 7 Sosa RTD 9 Marriaga RTD 7 Rigondeaux RTD 6
Wlad Klitschko did the same in 2012 to 2014, with a case being made for 2012 and 2014 not even losing a single round. Effectively making it losing only 1 round in 3 years time.
I think something like 25 or so of Marciano's opponents would retire five fights or less after facing Marciano. Margarito, I reckon, threw the most punches in a single fight. Fitzs is forever the lightest HW champ of all time at 165 and no chance in hell of another 165er or less even fighting for the title. Primo Carnera holds the record for most career knockouts by a heavyweight champion at 69. Wilder may have the most consecutive KOs of any HW champ, or HW for that matter, been a while. I forget the names but there was once a 275 rounder held in 1825. Theaganese successfully unified boxing, wrestling, and pankration titles, a feat yet to be replicated in the modern era. Bowen/Burke 110 rounds and 8hrs, pretty sure it's the longest recorded fight. Wladimir Klitschko has the huggiest reign of any HW champ. I'll come back if I can think of more.
didn't know that but probably true that's a record that probably never will be broken. Heavyweight champ probably, in heavyweight in general he isn't even holding the Alabama record. DAMN! Wasn't that the same fight with the most knockdowns in it?
Wladimir Klitschko knocking out / stopping more previously UN-KO'ed + unbeaten top heavyweight contenders in the history of the heavyweight division compared to any other past heavyweight. Wladimir Klitschko staying on top as the number 1 heavyweight in the world, longer than any other heavyweight champion in history did. Mike Tyson becoming the youngest heavyweight champion ever. Mike Tyson being the only boxer shorter than 6 foot 0 inches to have more success at heavyweight, than any other heavyweight in history shorter than 6 foot 0 inches.
